Name of Grant Program: Strategic Support to Specific Underperforming School Districts: Early Literacy Program, Milton Public Schools Fund Code: 220-M PART III – REQUIRED PROGRAM INFORMATION Overview: The purpose of this state-funded grant program is to provide an innovative pilot program to address the early literacy proficiency gap and increase access to early education in Milton Public Schools Early Literacy Program, Milton Public Schools Part 1: Background and Plans for Fund Use 1. Describe the theory of action, goals, objectives, activities, and anticipated outcomes of this program, including how it is anticipated to reduce the early literacy proficiency gap and increase access to early education in Milton 2. Describe any existing data on the literacy proficiency gap in Milton and the commitment to improvement 3. Describe how the program will support integration of literacy throughout the content areas and across grade levels, and how it will support and enrich the core literacy program 4. Describe the extent to which the program will involve purposeful student engagement with early literacy and provide meaningful opportunities for student exploration and discovery Part 2: Accountability 1. Describe how progress and impact will be identified and monitored, including early evidence of change, intermediate benchmarks, and long term evidence of success, and the use of assessment data to determine impact and success as well as opportunities for program improvements along the way 2.
