Talk about special foods, clothing, and holidays. Hand out worksheet, “My Culture,” / fill out name and teacher ID on top of papers. This paper is due at the next class period. Day 5 Discuss culture worksheet that the students return to class. Day 6 Talk about iPad terms and icons and care of iPad With iPads, look at Notes and practice typing Last name, First name Day 7 Introduce Socrative app and go through steps of logging on with wall poster. Demo a practice quiz and have students try doing quiz and submitting it to teacher. Day 8 Read Let’s Talk About Race by Julius Lester (from elem school library) Hand out worksheet for them to draw the people in their family. Assign f/next class. Day 9 Introduce utensils with SMART Notebook 1.2 in Unit 1 folder Read aloud Fingers, Forks, and Chopsticks by Patricia Lauber. Day 10 Hand out Suitcase template. Students color this, cut it out, then use glue stick to fasten it to a folded 12x18” construction paper or manila folder. Save for later use.
