Candidate Biographies for the 2014 CAEA Election Frank Burger - Running for CAEA President and NEA Delegate I have taught in the Carman-Ainsworth School District for seventeen (17) years, where I currently teach high school science and serve as your CAEA President. I’m asking for your support to continue to serve as your president and NEA Delegate. I currently represent you on the MEA and NEA Boards, taking your voice to legislators in Lansing and Washington, DC, to stop the continuous string of attacks on school employees and labor unions. I’m ready to lead and fight for the rights of all union members! Remember Frank Burger on May 12-13!!! Sandra Cawood - Running for NEA Delegate and NEA Alternate Delegate I am running to represent you, C-AEA at the national level for a two year term. During the past 20 years I have served as building AR, building alternate and MEA Representative. At the Region level I have served on the Budget Committee and as Region 10-A Vice President and Secretary. At the state level I presently co-chair the Women’s Issues Committee. I have learned a lot about how the organization works and how to best represent the needs of the CAEA membership. Thank-you for the opportunity to continue serving C-AEA! Sandra Cawood Sara Standen - Running for NEA Delegate I, Sara Standen, am running for NEA Delegate. I have taught social studies in the district at the high school since 2002. I have represented CAEA members as an Association Representative throughout my tenure and currently serve as the head AR for the high school. As NEA delegate, I plan to bring our local interests and concerns to the national level and direct our membership in a way that benefits all members. Thank you for your consideration and vote. I look forward to continuing my service for my fellow CAEA members. Megan Vicari - Running for CAEA Vice President I began teaching for Carman-Ainsworth in 1997. I am currently at Rankin, where I am also the student council advisor and HAL teacher. I am a school improvement co-chair and serve on the district Intervention and Technology committees. As for the EA, I am an alternate AR for Rankin and the district Professional Development co-chair. My B.S. in Elementary Education (minors in science, language arts, and social science) and Master’s in Literacy are both from UM-Flint. In my personal life, I am married with two daughters in college. I enjoy playing golf and cards, and following sports.
