JOB DESCRIPTION HEAD OF FUNDRAISING AND COMMUNICATIONS Responsible to: Responsible for: Assistant Chief Executive Officer Fundraising and Communications Departments Purpose of the Post: To provide strategic leadership and management in creating, developing, maintaining and implementing Muslim Aid’s fundraising, marketing and communications strategy to fulfil the strategic objectives of Muslim Aid. Main Responsibilities Fundraising: 1. To create, develop and implement the Fundraising strategy and annual work plans to ensure income targets are met. 2. To ensure the implementation of cost effective fundraising initiatives and events aimed at a diverse range of communities. 3. To manage and strengthen Muslim Aid’s external relationships with all stake holders including donors, mosques, local communities, corporate organizations, not for profit organizations and educational establishments in order to maximise Muslim Aid’s income. 4. To maintain and develop Muslim Aid’s donor base through fundraising initiatives. 5. To identify new areas of income generation which fulfil Muslim Aid’s strategic objectives. 6. To ensure the effective implementation of emergency campaigns, ramadhan and qurbani campaigns from a fundraising and communications perspective in maximizing Muslim Aid’s income. 7. To create appropriate manuals, procedures and guidelines for all fundraising initiatives and organize periodical reviews for continual improvement. 8. To provide reports on fundraising activities to Trustees as and when required. Leadership, Management and Development 9. To effectively lead and manage the fundraising and communications departments in achieving the strategic objectives of Muslim Aid. 10. To provide support to the Senior Management Team in contributing towards achieving Muslim Aid’s strategic objectives. 11. To develop the Fundraising and Communications staff to maximize their potential in all areas of work. 12. To promote a culture of cost effectiveness throughout the Fundraising and Communications teams in all areas of work. 13. To carry out annual staff appraisals. 14. To manage the recruitment of staff in conjunction with the Human Resources Department as and when required. 15. To ensure staff are implementing the values of Muslim Aid in all areas of work. 16. To ensure the effective engagement and commitment of staff in all areas of work 17. To ensure an effective working relationship between Fundraising and Communications Departments in achieving Muslim Aid’s strategic objectives. 18. To ensure the implementation of risk awareness and risk control in both Fundraising and Marketing & Communications departments. 19. To ensure team keep abreast of new developments in fundraising & marketing, and is fully compliant with best practice in fundraising and relevant legislation. 20. To contribute to discussion on advertising campaigns, brand identity and profile of Muslim Aid Marketing & Communications 21. To create and develop and ensure implementation of the Marketing and Communications strategy and annual work plans to ensure Muslim Aid’s strategic objectives are met. 22. To ensure the implementation of good practise across all areas of the Communications department. 23. To identify a diverse range of Marketing and Communications initiatives in order to effectively promote Muslim Aid’s image. 24. To ensure the provision of support to field offices in relation to marketing and communication activities. 25. To ensure key communications regarding Muslim Aid are consistently and coherently delivered to all stakeholders. 26. To maximise the potential of Muslim Aid`s website and video production. 27. To continue sourcing and developing opportunities to create new promotions and income streams for Muslim Aid 28. To create appropriate manuals, procedures and guidelines for all communication initiatives and organize periodical reviews for continual improvement. Budgetary Control and Financial Management 29. To ensure compliance with the financial legislation and Muslim Aid`s financial procedures in all activities of both Fundraising and Communications departments. 30. To prepare the annual budget for the Fundraising and Communications departments 31. To exercise effective and secure budgetary control in line with Muslim Aid’s financial procedures and guidelines. 32. To ensure that all partners are compliant with Muslim Aid’s financial systems and controls. 33. To set income and expenditure targets for team 34. To produce regular, accurate financial reports are produced showing fundraised income and costs every month to the line manager 35. To produce annual operational plan, monitoring effectiveness through return on investments Corporate (SMT Responsibility) 36. To provide strong leadership across Muslim Aid in close collaboration with other SMT members. 37. To participate in the SMT taking collective responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring strategic policies in the following areas: strategic planning, HR, finance, compliance, internal and external relations, PR/communications, health & safety and risk management. 38. To be responsible for ensuring that staff and volunteers are adequately informed, skilled and supervised to carry out their duties safely and in compliance with Health and Safety policy and safety management systems. 39. To monitor, analyse and evaluate success and weaknesses of all FR and Communication activities and ensure learning outcomes are shared and documented. Other 40.
