Name:______________________ Math 9 Unit 1 Project Unit 1 Project: Design an Object for Home You will design an object that will be used for home. This structure can be made of any type of material, but it has to be an object used in your home. These objects may include, but are not limited to: - A lamp post A bedframe A cat tree/house A dog house - A bird house A tree house A Skate Park A Dining room table The design can only include cylinders, rectangular prisms, and triangular prisms. There should be between 4 and 8 objects, with at least one of each type. The objects can be connected face to face. These objects are to be painted with whatever colour you choose. The paint will cover only what is open to air, and it costs $0.50/m 2. Your work should show: - Sketches or a model or of your design - The surface area of each object - The cost of paint for the object - How you calculated the total surface area and the cost of the project (SHOW YOUR WORK!) - An explanation of any unique features of your structure and why you included them. This project is out of 16 possible marks. Each project is graded based on the rubric attached. This project is due on ____________________________________________.
