surveillance for the titer of antibody to FMD virus from cattle inoculated
FMD vaccine in Laos.

antimicrobial resistant
bacteria from
environmental origin
More than 500 Enterobacteriaceae were isolated from environmental water
samples collected in India and Sri Lanka in 2013 and investigated their
antimicrobial susceptibilities to chech the environmental contamination by
resistant bacteria. (Dr M. Akiba and Dr Guruge Keerthi Siri)

A total of 5 veterinary medicinal products were tested on request from
manufacturing authorization holder and 391 biologics were received the
national assay in 2013.

A total of 38 antibiotics (including 4 in vitro diagnostics for antibiotics), 31
biologics (including 4 in vitro diagnostics for biologics) and 40 other VMPs
(including 1 in vitro diagnostic) were approved in 2013.

Meeting of NIAH Japan
and NIAH Thailand
Based of the MOU on strengthening research cooperation in the fields of
mutual interest on veterinary science with National Institute of Animal
Health in Thailand, the scientific meeting was held in NIAH, Tsukuba, Japan
to exchange information and talk about possibility of research cooperation.
The third meeting will be held in Thailand in 2014.
