eaTracker Assignment eaTracker is an online program which allows you to track your day's food and activity choices and compares them to the guidelines provided by Health Canada. It assesses your food choices and provides feedback on your total intake of energy (calories) and essential nutrients and compares this to what is recommended for your age, gender, and activity level. 1) Open internet explorer and enter www.eatracker.ca 2) In the top right corner, click Sign Up 3) Fill in your login information to create your profile and agree to the terms of use. 4) My Detailsī Here is where you will fill in your personal information like weight, age and height. Try and be as accurate as possible. When complete click Submit. My Food 1) This tab is where you will begin to record your food intake for the day. 2) The “Search for Food” bar is what you will use to locate food 3) Begin with your breakfast. Search for foods one item at a time. Record everything! Example: If you had a bowl of cereal and a piece of toast with butter for breakfast, you must record your cereal, milk, bread and butter. When you search for a food you will get a “Search Results” page. This is where you will select the “Quantity” and “Size” for each food that you ate and what meal (breakfast, lunch, snack…) you would like to add the food to. To choose the proper meal, click the down arrow beside the “Add to…” tab 4) Record ALL the food you ate in an entire day: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Dinner. Remember to add everything! Example: If you had a ham sandwich, you must include the bread, meat, cheese, mustard, lettuce and tomato. ***Do not forget to add the liquids you consumed*** Once you have recorded all your meals, you will notice that your Daily Menu now has all the food you searched for and added. For example: My Activities 1) This tab is where you will begin to record your activity for the day. 2) Similar to the process of adding food, you now have to add your activity for the day. Make sure that you record your food and activity from the same day. 3) The “Search for an activity” bar is what you will use to locate your activities. 4) Once you have recorded all your activity, you will notice that your Activity Log now has all the activities you searched for and added. It also places the activity within a certain “Effort” zone. ***You should now have all your food and activity recorded for one day. Look at the example below: The green bars show how much of each nutrient you are consuming. If any bars are red, this means you are consuming TOO MUCH of that nutrient. The Recommended Daily Intake is the Blue Line that runs vertically through the middle of the graph.
