If the book was published in the past year, why not nominate it for the Speaking Volumes Christian Book Awards 2014? Anyone can nominate any number of books, in any genre, for either the adult or children's category. They must have been published in the UK between September 2012 and September 2013. Nominations must be received by 30th September, 2013. Once the books are shortlisted by a panel of experts, the five books in each category are put to the public vote in January 2014. The winners are announced at a ceremony on 13th May at the CRE International exhibition at Sandown. Last year’s winners were Andrea Skevington and Canon Andrew White and both received £1,000 prize money – a handy boost towards their next writing project. The Christian Book Awards are sponsored and run by Speaking Volumes for the Christian Book Promotion Trust, a charity that makes Christian literature available to inspire and encourage readers of all ages and backgrounds. Speaking Volumes Director Paula Renouf explains: 'We're always on the look-out for good Christian books for our Speaking Volumes library scheme where you can buy match-funded, Christian books for libraries and schools. But these awards really help us to understand what everyone else thinks is a good Christian book and what would be borrowed regularly from a library shelf.' To make a nomination, just send four copies of each nominated book, plus four copies of the application form, to Speaking Volumes before 30th September, 2013.
