As a first time candidate, I would like to introduce myself briefly.
Qualification – A Chartered Accountant by educational qualification. After finishing my
schooling at the Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi, I then graduated in
B.Com(Hons) from Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. Thereafter I completed
my Chartered Accountancy in Delhi from A.F Ferguson & Co.(now KPMG).
Work Experience – After qualifying, I have spent a few years in England & Saudi Arabia
working for a group of companies as a Chief Financial Officer. In England, the company
was Rivalminster Ltd involved in Real Estate activities and Import – Export. In Saudi Arabia,
I was the Financial Head of the Al-Harithy Group of companies involved in Construction,
Contracting & Hotels (got the franchise deal concluded with the SOFITEL group). I have
also been a member of the Delhi Stock Exchange. I now manage a Financial and
Investment Consultancy. I am also the Managing Director of Diamate Exports, a Company
involved in the Manufacture & Export.
Family – My brother-in-law and sister are members and regular users of the Club for the
last 40 years. My association with the Club has been of over 2 decades, even before
becoming a member. My father late Mr Trilok Nath Anand was an Eminent lawyer practicing
at the Delhi High Court. My wife Anita is a qualified Jewellery Designer involved in
manufacture, marketing and export of precious jewellery. My younger son is also a qualified
designer involved in the above work with my wife as well as his artistic nature has also
made him branch of into the F&B Industry specialising in Lebanese Cuisine. My elder son is
an MBA from U.S.A, presently a banker working as Vice President of one of the private
banks in India.
Experience in Associations / Clubs/ NGOs - I have been the President of Jor Bagh
Association, after having served on the Committee as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice
President for over 20 years.
I have been the President of Rotary Club of Delhi Southend in the year 2011-12, after
having been on the board of directors for about 6 years. In Rotary, me and my wife have
been helping many NGO’s involved in the field of health, education, community
development & upliftment of the mentally/physically challenged.
We are presently
managing a fully charitable unit of paediatric dialysis helping lot of children survive till they
find a kidney donor. With this above background, I am fully conversant with the working of
clubs and similar institutions.
Sports – Presently, I am playing golf regularly, being the member of Delhi Golf Club for the
past 15 years and participating in all their Open House discussions and giving inputs to the
greens committee and the finance committee. I am also a member of the Noida Golf Club
and Air Force Golf Club. Earlier, I have played Cricket and Badminton for my School and
College Teams.
I am also member of the Indian Habitat Centre.
I am regular user of this Club with proximity of my residence and office. I’m aware of the
problems which are currently being faced by a vast majority of members. I will endeavour to
the best of my ability to solve them and give my time, energy and efforts towards
betterment of the Club.
With this brief detail about myself and the knowledge and experience mentioned above, I
seek your valuable support in the election of the General Committee for the first time.

My Personal Qualifications and Interests
I was schooled in the prestigious Maharani Gayatri Devi school Jaipur and
completed my M Phil (History) with honours.
For the last 9 years, I have been actively contribution to the cause of the
underprivileged in the field of health, education and community development
through my association with Concern India Foundation, a Charitable Trust, I have
helped Concern India raise critical funds by organising events in the field of art,
drama and textile fairs etc.
Family background and a long association with the Club:
My father Shri Gokal Lal Mehta IAS , who retired as Chairman of the Revenue Board had
been a long standing, respected member of the Club. I have had the privilege of a lifelong
association with the Club since I have been coming here as a child.
My husband, Mr Vijay Bahadur who is a Chartered Accoutant, and so is my daughter from
the UK, are active users of the Club.
Accomplishments during my recent Tenure as a member of the General Committee :
I was an active and engage Committee Member and was instrumental in making significant
improvements to the member’s experience in multiple facets.
Members appreciated the increased transparency in the liquor prices and unique events such
as the opportunity to interact with writer of Cocktail books, and liquor appreciation evenings.
The success of the strategies was clearly reflected in increased revenue from the bar,
enabling the club to prosper.
The Indoor Sports Committee held successful syndicate rummy and All India Bridge
Tournament.
The Book Club was very active and members immensely enjoyed the close interactions with
renowned literary luminaries.
Delhi Gymkhana is a hallowed institution with a unique and resplendent history. I have a
deep respect for the traditions which make it a cherished place to be a member of. At the
same time, I bring to the table a unique mix of pragmatism so that we can embrace the 21 st
Century without compromising the core values which set us apart. I have a belief that the old
and the new can coexist. Judicious use of technology and careful augmentation of club
facilities can help the Club thrive by improving the user experience. We can move forward
with confidence without losing our unique and special character

EDUCATION:St Columba’s for schooling and graduation from St. Stephen’s College.
PROFESSION: Started career with Burmah-Shell and held senior positions with them and
their parent Company Burmah-Oil in India and the UK till nationalization of the Oil industry.
Joined Bata India and was Corporate Head, Delhi, from 1979 to 1997. Represented these
Companies as Member on various Committees of ASSOCHAM, PHDCCI, and CII.
Elected Vice President of the Top Management Club of IMM for 5 years. Have served on
Boards of several national Companies and have been a Delegate/ Speaker at ILO
Geneva, Escap Bangkok, and Asian Business Congress In Melbourne.
DELHI GOLF CLUB: For last 12 years have been actively involved with the affairs of the
Delhi Golf Club, and was on their GC for 6 years. Have served there as the Treasurer,
Chairman of Finance and Chairman Food And Beverage as also Chairman House
Committee and Co-Chairman of all other Committees. With this experience of Club
management I have insight to members’ needs and aspirations.
GYMKHANA CLUB: Am presently member of the General Committee of the Delhi
Gymkhana Club and assigned the important portfolio of CHAIRMAN FINANCE SUBCOMMITTEE. During my tenure, several measures to check costs and improve
accounting practices have been taken, thereby resulting in considerable savings to the
club. Some of these are acceleration of billing, stringent control on expensive contract ual
hiring, modernization of electrical fittings to substantially reduce running costs etc. These
initiatives have been appreciated by the General Committee and Club members, and duly
reported in the Club Newsletter on various occasions.
Am a regular user of the Club, play bridge and have won a number of prizes in the Club
tournaments.
CLUB MEMBERSHIPS: Am also a member of the Delhi Golf Club, the Bombay Gymkhana
Club, Mumbai and the Panchshila Club, Delhi,
FAMILY:Belong to an old family of Delhi. My father Late KanwarMohinder Singh Bedi was
in the civil service and in his own right a well - known Urdu Poet. Mr.Kawaljit Singh IRS
(Retd), married to my sister Beeba served on the General Committee for a number of
years. Their daughter Jasmine and son AshwajitSingh have also been on the General
Committee of the Club. She was Editor of the Club Newsletter for 5 years and he for 2
years. My two sons Abhayjit and Amarinder, both studied at Doon School and then in
leading Colleges in USA. They are green Card holders and use the Club for
Tennis/Squash/Swimming regularly.
VISION: Our membership has outgrown facilities presently available in the Club.
Fortunately we are in the final stage of getting Government’s approval to build some
additional facilities, and have sufficient reserves to undertake the expansion. This will
enable broad basing membership. Would make an attempt to urgently upgrade the
infrastructure, using our money judiciously in projects which will also generate revenue.

Born and raised in Delhi, I schooled at St. Columba’s School and graduated from Hindu
College, University of Delhi. I am an entrepreneur devoted to introducing India’s beauty –
physical, cultural, spiritual - to the world. This endeavour is being fulfilled through Equinox
Travels , a well established, leading and successful player in the inbound tours market.
I am the quintessential Delhiite with a keen appreciation of this great city’s ethos and the
historical importance and pride -of –place of our own, very unique, oasis in this urban jungle,
The Delhi Gymkhana Club.
I first entered these hallowed premises in 1972 as a 12 year old when my father Sh. Ramesh
Chander Bhalla was elected a member. I was issued a dependent card in 1973, graduated
to a green card in 1982, upgraded to UCP in 2001 and earned my spurs as a member in
2008.Over all these years I have been an extremely regular user of our various and varied
sports and dining facilities, with a particular penchant for swimming and squash. I have
actively participated in the club’s squash tournament and have the honour of making it to the
winners circle on several occasions.
Indeed such has been my association – and from 1990 that of my wife Aradhana – that we
view this as our other home. Our children Isrita and Vivaan, the third generation of club users
from our family, are equally partial to this club.
I am a member of the Delhi Golf Club and, by virtue of Aradhana being a member, a spouse
member of the Bangalore Club.
I am well versed with the traditions, and steeped in the culture, of our club and firmly believe
they must be nurtured and preserved if we are to retain our distinctive character and iconic
status as India’s finest home away from home. I cannot over emphasize the importance of
these values; it is vital they be defended and it is incumbent on us all to see that they are
preserved for future generations of club members.
I am committed to the well being and excellence of this venerable institution and seek your

I am a 1978 batch Officer of the Indian Administrative Service and currently Secretary,
Government of India, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. I have had varied experience
both with the Government of India in the Ministries of Commerce, Health, Fertilizers &
Chemicals, Shipping, Defence and Cabinet Secretariat as well as in over a dozen sectors in
the State Government.
I did my schooling from Bishop Cotton Simla, St. John’s Chandigarh and at St. Pauls,
Darjeeling. Thereafter, while at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, I was actively involved in its
activities as Chancellor of the Exchequer of the Students Union; College Captain for Cross
Country and Athletics, Member of the Hockey Team and represented Delhi University and
the State on several occasions. I was elected Secretary of the College Games Committee in
1976-77. I am a proud alumnus of the National Defence College(38th Course).
My family’s association with the Club goes back for five decades. My father Shri M.L.
Chhibber, I.P.S.(Retd.) is an active Bridge and Tennis player and has been a
Member of
the Executive Committee. My mother, Late Smt. Malati Chhibber was an accomplished
artist and active social worker who was closely involved with the various activities of the Club
and the Rotary Blood Bank. I have myself been a member for about 3 decades and have
respected and cherished the Club’s values, tradition and culture. My wife Reena, my son
Amitabh and daughter Akshita have all been actively involved in various activities of the Club
over the years.
I was elected last September as the President of the Club. My focus during the year gone
by has been on ensuring transparency and accountability and to put right some of the serious
aberrations that we inherited. The series of social and cultural events held during the year
provided a befitting backdrop for the year long Centenary Celebrations. More importantly, we
were able to secure clearance from the Ministry of Urban Development for the long delayed
New Infrastructure Project which we hope to launch in the coming months. This should
provide us the additional space to accommodate the increasing footfalls and requirements of
Members. One unfinished Agenda relates to resolution of Membership issues. We need to
move forward carefully and in a legally sustainable manner, particularly since the matter is
currently sub-judice. Needless to say, the interest of our children would be upper-most on our
minds.
The forthcoming elections are less about style and substance but more about upholding the
age-old traditions of our Club. Institutions run on conventions, traditions and ethos evolved
over time, and not on the strength of any one individual or his competence. The values,
conventions and traditions, which are our institution’s inherent strength need to be
maintained and guarded zealously.
If elected for a second term I will give priority towards creation of infrastructure, better
utilisation of land and accommodation, financial integrity and transparency in the
administration of the Club, judicious use of Club’s resources and reduce avoidable
expenditure,

1. NTPC: Have constructed several mega projects from concept to commissioning, within
the best parameters of cost, quality and time. Commissioned the very first unit of NTPC of
2000 MW Power Plant at Singrauli (a grass root plant) on the exact scheduled date;
Commissioned the 1st Interstate 400 KV HVDC transmission line in India from Bhilai to
Koradi; Korba Super Thermal Power station performed at above 100% PLF under my
Supervision. Now NTPC is a 'Maharatna' Company of India and is one of the largest
Power Utilities in the world. At present the total generation capacity of NTPC is 43,123
MW.
2. IFFCO: Commissioned the very First Unit of IFFCO at Kandla and later operated it at
150% capacity utilization. Now IFFCO is one of the largest Fertiliser Co-operatives in the
world with 39,824 Co-operative societies as its members.
3. NALCO: Was totally responsible for the construction of the 'Navratna' NALCO (1982-84)
plants and facilities like the Bauxite Mines, Refinery, Smelter and the 600 MW Power
Station. Now NALCO is one of the largest Aluminum producers in the world.

‘Club Diamond’ resulting in about twenty new Bridge players coming to the Bridge Room.

3. Billiards: Was Runner up in Billiards at I.I.T., Roorkee. Arranged a Billiards & Snooker
Tournament during 2009-10.
4. Yoga:
Made Yoga very popular, especially by arranging a new Instructor from Bihar
School of Yoga.
5. Library: Made a presentation on ‘Cancer’; served on the Editorial Board of ‘ClubLife’ and
contributed an Editorial on the History of the Club, Articles on Yoga, Alaska etc; Conducted
a Scrabble Competition & other workshops.
6. Membership: Spearheaded the cause of the Green Card Holders in 2008-09 when 400
Green Card Holders were upgraded to UCP status. A similar number was upgraded in 200910. Launched a major initiative towards bringing in complete transparency in all membership
matters.

What would I do if elected?

I am a graduate B Com(Hons) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University
and Sports man. I was a university Badminton player and also represented my college in
water polo team. After the college I joined Indian Military Academy in 1965 and was
commissioned in the Regiment of Arty and subsequently joined the Intelligence corps of
Army. During the service I held various command & Staff appointments and I also was a
keen sportsman played Tennis and Squash while in service and was part of Central
Command Tennis Team.
I took premature retirement from the Army in 1989 and am well settled in my own
business at Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi. I am a frequent user of the Club for the last 20
years. I have been taking keen interest in the various activities of the Club. I also have
been taking active part in the Club election activities & rendering my voluntary services to
the Club. I am also member of various other institutions.

Dear Member,
I seek your support in electing me as your representative to the General Committee 201415.
I am an MBA from Faculty of Management Studies – FMS, Delhi University, a graduate from
Hindu College where I was elected a member of Supreme Council of Delhi University. I was
the President of the Rotary Club of Delhi Mid Town in the year 2002-3. I have been a
member of the Dehradun Club, Calcutta Club and Panchsheel Club Delhi. Besides, being
member of the Delhi Gymkhana Club for over 10 years, I am also a member of The Delhi
Golf Club, India Habitat Centre and the DLF City Club. Sports like cricket and golf continue
to be my passion and I regularly play golf at the Delhi Golf Club.
I retired as the whole- time Director with the Remington Rand of India ltd. after serving the
company for 28 years. Later, I served as the President of an Optical Fiber manufacturing
company. Thereafter, I headed the Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of
India (AUSPI) as its Secretary General for 14 years. The Association played an important
role in the Indian Telecom Reforms, resulting in India now having one of the lowest telecom
tariffs in the world today.
Currently, I am the director of a Consultancy Services company. I am also running a
charitable organization supporting education of the GIRL CHILD.
My wife,Neena has studied at the JJ School of Arts at Mumbai and has been an
educationist since the last 26 years. She established a design institute called Academy of
Fashion Studies in 1993. My daughter Konia is working as a head of marketing in a leading
MNC. My son Raj is currently heading the communication function at AFS. He too has a
strong interest in cricket and golf. My sister, brother in laws family and cousins have been
permanent members of the club since the last forty years.
If elected, I intend working on the following:–
1. Resolving Membership issues.
2. To make efforts towards improving quality of Food at reasonable rates.
3. Working towards the speedy expansion of the club infrastructure and facilities since
the necessary approval from the concerned Ministry has now been obtained.
4. Improving the service level so that members can enjoy a better club life.
5. Plan and execute a Welfare Plan for the Gymkhana Club staff and their families.

Mr Mohan Das Menon, IPS(Retd)

Mohan Das Menon who belongs to the 1974 batch of the Indian Police Service was initially
inducted into the Madhya Pradesh cadre where he served in the districts of Gwalior,
Jabalpur and Morena before becoming SP Security in the state Capital, Bhopal. His first
operational charge was Katni, one of the major sub divisions of the state as Sub Divisional
Officer (Police),where he served for two years before being promoted as Additional SP
Morena.
After about five years in MP Cadre, he was transferred to the Uttar Pradesh Cadre as SP
Anti Dacoity, a posting that essentially entailed coordinating anti-dacoity operations in the trijunctional arenas of UP, MP and Rajasthan. He was privileged to play a major role in
creating the 57th District of UP, Kanpur Dehat, which he headed for two years before being
nominated to serve in the Cabinet Secretariat at New Delhi.
Therein,he served in various important assignments including in Arunachal Pradesh for over
two years before being posted at Singapore’s Indian High Commission in 1988. He was
also assigned two critical foreign assignments in the Embassies of India at Moscow (19962000) and Paris (2003-2007) , as Minister (Consular). He served in between (2000-20003)
as Joint Secretary dealing with International Security affairs and thereafter also as Additional
Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. Prior to joining the IPS, he was appointed as Lecturer,
Economics at the University of Delhi from 1971 to 1974.
Education’ wise, he studied in Modern School, New Delhi from 1955-65, from where he
passed out as a school topper in the CBSE exam before joining the St Stephen’s College
and the Delhi School of Economics for a post graduate degree in the subject. Sport’s wise,
he received basketball colors from Modern School and played the game for the St Stephen’s
College team from 1965-68
Hobbies’ wise, he authored August Haze – Poems Of A Placid Realm, in 1994, produced
five theme songs for Doordarshan in 1996, essentially of the inspirational genre and in 2013,
scripted and produced “Sankalp – Mera Hunar Meri Pehchan”, an hour long story feature

received by DD audiences. Currently, associated with “Magic Hours”, scripted and
produced by M D Menon Consulting, to promote national skilling options, a biweekly
programme endorsed by DD for screening on National Channel w.e.f.October 2014.
He conducted some pioneering work and initiatives on the out frame of the National Counter
Terrorism Centre (NCTC), based on his professional exposure, as also on Hub Policing
Relevance as an alternate to stand-alone police stations,currently under much public and
political pressure. After 26/11, he presented a Concept Paper on Maritime Security Hubs for
Indian States, to the Govt., of Maharashtra. He currently writes a regular column entitled

Having served in various Command and staff assignments, I was given the active command
of my parent unit 15 Dogra Regiment in the insurgency infested sector of Gurdaspur
(Punjab). The Battalion, having performed creditably in restoring the normalcy in Gurdaspur
the worst insurgency infested district of Punjab. My battalion and I were Commended for an
outstanding work by the Chief of the Army Staff and the State Government. I was
nominated for the Long Defence Management Course. On successful culmination posted
as Director Management Studies at Army HQs as Management Consultant to the Army HQs
and Ministry of Defence
I was privileged to command the prestigious 95 Inf. Brigade at Kasauli, with additional
responsibilities of Chairman Cantonment Boards and Ex- Officio President of Kasauli Club
Ltd. I had the singular honour of organizing the Sesqui Centenary Celebrations of the
Kasauli Club in 1998 with astounding success. The image and popularity of the Kasauli
Club has grown many folds since then. As on date it is undoubtedly the best Club in North
India.
My work in the field of Environment, Ecology and the security management of the
Cantonment was greatly appreciated and reported in the Times of India through Mr
Khushwant Singh’s column on Kasauli in the year 2000.
I am a regular visitor of the Club and a keen Bridge and Billiard player. I have over 35 years
of organisational and Management experience behind me to handle any portfolio of our
esteemed Club Committee. During my first tenure as GC member I was responsible to save
over 30 lacs in Indoor Sports events over the previous year 2013 and also notched up profit
to the tune of Rs.52 lakhs despite many more sponsored / subsidized functions /. Evenings
for the members in the Bar Sub Committee. For your kind information I was also
instrumental in removing the CCTV coverage from the Bar and Dining areas on repeated
demand of members

I have three daughters & a son. All my daughters are Doctor’s , one being a PHD and the

I received my schooling from Loreto Convent, Tara Hall, Shimla; and later got a
B.Com(Hons) degree from Punjab University, both with distinctions. Thereafter, I pursued
Computer and Management studies to embark on my corporate career.
I belong to a well recognized and reputed family from Himachal Pradesh. My
family is in the Hospitality Industry, and owns heritage properties, “Mythe Estate” in
Shimla, “Chalet Naldera”, and “Chateux Garli” in Kangra. They are now world class
hospitality destinations. I am also involved in promoting the arts, crafts and skills from
HP by exposing them to international buyers and markets. We export apparels,
accessories and home furnishing to the UK and Europe.
I was married to the late Shri Sanjeev Sapra, son of Late Lt General R P Sapra a
decorated Signalman and very prominent member of our Club. My daughter works for
Johnson & Johnson, a Senior Manager. Our family has been using the Club for the past
four decades.
Professionally, I can best introduce myself as a Business Development
&Marketing Professional in Telecom & Hospitality Sectors through an onerous and
satisfying corporate journey spanning 30 years. I have been associated with the Essar
and Videocon Groups since the inception of telecom networks, in the era of regulatory
bodies and license regimes. As National Head of Videocon Mobile Services developed
their large format Retail & Modern Trade Pan India. As Country Head for Mango Global
launched telecom wireless products and solutions for Max New York Life & IBM in the
insurance space.
My key strengths are effective leadership and management skills. I have also
been associated with CSR activities with Vision India Foundation, and Samarpan. I am
widely travelled across Europe, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand and have been

A permanent member (P-1956) of the Delhi Gymkhana Club since 1978 (36 years), I
have been regularly utilising the Club and participating in its activities since 2003 when I
retired from service. My association with the Club relates to recollections of fond
memories of witnessing Davis Cup matches on our luscious green grass courts.
A product of St Josephs College, Nainital (SEM) run by the Irish Christian Brothers order,
I had my initial schooling in the UK and a few cantonment schools which has stood me in
good stead.
An alumni of the National Defence Academy, Kharakvasla, I was commissioned in 1968
into 14th Battalion The Kumaon Regiment (Gwalior) – later converted to 5th Battalion The
Mechanised Infantry Regiment which I commanded successfully on the Line of Control
conducting Anti Infiltration and Anti Terrorist operations. I have actively participated in
Counter Insurgency operations in the North East in the 60’s as also during the 1971
operations in the Eastern Theatre. Having a vast experience of 35 years of
commissioned service both in command and staff appointments, I served as the ADC
and later Deputy Military Assistant to the Chief of the Army Staff, Late General TN Raina,
MVC.
Having attended the Senior Officers Defence Management Course, College of Defence
Management, Secunderabad amongst other professional courses, I have a rich
experience in the field of Administration. I was commended with the Chief of The Army
Staff Commendation Card twice by the COAS.
Widely travelled and a keen sportsman, I am a member of the United Services Institute
and the Army Golf Course, Dhaula Kuan.
Aditya Sapru our son is a Green Card holder and has been working with the Hong Kong
and Shanghai Banking Corporation since 2000; currently he is a VP with HSBC, Canada
with his wife who also is a HSBC executive.

Arjun Sawhny studied at Mayo College, Ajmer (Class XII – 1979) read B A Honours in
Economics from St Stephens College, Delhi University (1982), is a Chartered Accountant
(1985) having articled with AF Ferguson & Co., and completed a Corporate Finance

Arjun’s previous experience was as a Principal with AF Ferguson & Co., and as a partner
with KPMG. Arjun spent two years with KPMG in London and set up KPMG’s Corporate
Finance practice in Delhi in 1997, then co-founded a high technology services start up
funded by venture capitalists, and returned to Investment Banking with ANZ Investment

Institution I love and care for so much.

the Institution without asking or expecting anything in return.
I have been using the Gymkhana Club for more than 40 years – first as a Dependent
and for the last quarter century as a full fledged member. I am therefore well aware with the
culture, traditions and ethos of our great Institution whose history reads like a chronicle of
achievements and pride since 1913.
The Gymkhana Club has been a home away from home to my family.
My mother, Ms Mohini G Singh, Brother Vice Adm Madanjit Singh(Retd) and my
daughters, Simran and Manga (UCP) and Ekta Arora (Green Card) are all Members of the
Club.
I am an active sportsman and also have the experience of being involved in the day
to day functioning of various Clubs, including the Administrative Council of Defence Colony
Club, New Delhi for four terms.
Besides, just to give you a little background, I was commissioned into the Indian
Army (Armd Corp) on 14th March 1971 and took premature retirement in 1992. In addition to
being a war veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, I have also served in counter insurgency
areas. Thereafter, I served a Head of Security of reputed organisations including Apollo
Hospitals, Escorts Ltd, Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre and Max Healthcare. I set
up a Security Services Company in 2001 and continue to provide Security and Fire Safety

Family Background: Father was a highly decorated General who played a key role in the
liberation of Bangladesh. Last year I was honoured with an award by the President of
Bangladesh in their Parliament. Immediate family members have been Members of
Parliament, Governors, Secretaries to the Government of India, Ambassadors, Scholars and
Chairperson UPSC.
Spouse: Rano Uban. Qualified Interior Designer with specalisation from university of
Perugia in Italy. Speaks Italian fluently. Has been conducting major events of ladies clubs in
very large cantonments.

Military Profile: Alumnus of NDA and IMA. Ranked among highest in all Army courses, with

I am a product of a public school and an alumni of National Defence Academy, Pune. I was
commissioned into the Armoured Corps ( The Deccan Horse, an Indian Cavalry Regiment)
in June 1977. I have successfully held various command, staff and instructional
assignments in my over 37 years of service in the Army. I am a serving officer and
presently posted at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army) New Delhi.
Both my wife and I come from a services background and are children of Army Officers. My
father is a retired Major General. My wife, Cindy is a qualified teacher, last taught at
Convent of Jesus & Mary, Ambala Cantt for many years. She is qualified fashion designer
and has a great interest in interiors, landscaping and floriculture. Her late father and
grandfather, Brig B S Chimni and Maj Gen S B S Chimni were members of the Club for over
50 years. We have two daughters, the older one is married and well settled, our younger
daughter is currently working with a luxury brand and is a green card holder.
I have been a member of the Club for over 25 years and we are frequent users of the Club. I
am also a member of many other clubs and institutes in Delhi and Chandigarh namely USI,
IDSA, Army Golf Club & DSOI in New Delhi and Chandigarh Golf Club and DSOI at
Chandigarh.
An avid sportsman, I have played many games hockey, athletics, basketball, swimming &
water polo, golf and tennis at various levels and the Nationals in golf and athletics. I have
