What was the effect of the American Revolution on (what was going to become) Canada? – RSA Animate project History is all about the relationship of cause and effect. A cause leads to an effect. That effect then becomes the cause for something else. And on it goes into the distant future. For example; The protests and sabotage of the Sons of Liberty are the cause that lead the British to impose the four Intolerable Acts. Those Acts in turn become a cause for further anger in the 13 Colonies and lead to the revolution – an effect. You will create an RSA style video that answers the question: What was the effect of the American Revolution on (what was going to become) Canada? Once anyone has finished watching the video they need to understand what that effect was. Steps: DAY 1 Read from The Loyalists on page 179 up to and including The Constitutional Act on page 184 in your textbook. Use the method of 2 to 4 notes per paragraph that we have already used in class. Write notes on the sections listed. Do a seminar with Mr. Wilson to show you understand what you have read. (10 marks) Day 2 Two Students write the narration for the pics. As you write the narration, decide which pics will need captions. Break the story into seven parts, with each part having three pictures. The parts correspond to the following headings in the text : the Loyalists, The Loyalists Arrive in Canada, The Black Loyalists, The First Nations, Joseph Brandt, the Remaining British Colonies, the Constitutional Act Write a transition linking each part . (we will go over this in class) Two Students sketch out each of the pics in a comic book format As you write the narration, decide which pics will need additional writing to help with a transition from one to another. Day 3 Take your white board and draw your story. Day 4/5 Take a video of your story being erased from the last scene to the first scene. Go to the mac lab an upload your video to imovie. Reverse the movie and then record your narration. Mr. Wilson will then upload your video to his Youtube account. Evaluation: - The video historically accurate - The script is engaging – your video is told as a story in that it has a beginning, middle and end. It has some analysis that makes the viewer think. - Drama, excitement or at times humour is used to keep the viewer engaged. - The pictures are clear and engages the viewer. - Your group worked well together to produce a good quality video on time. 50 marks (this includes the seminar mark)
