Job Specification & Terms and Conditions Job Title and Grade Registrar in Radiation Oncology Location of Post Organisational Area HSE: Dublin Midlands Hospital Group Saint Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network (SLRON) based in Saint Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar, Dublin 6: SLRON based in St. James’s Hospital, Dublin 8 and SLRON Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9. Details of Service To provide Radiation Oncology Registrar services to support the delivery of high quality radiation therapy to cancer patients. Reporting Relationship To the Clinical Director and Hospital Training Co-ordinator or designate in the Radiation Oncology Department to which they will be assigned for the purpose of their daily duties Purpose of the Post Support the 15 Radiation Oncology Consultants at St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network. The person appointed will be assigned to the Radiation Oncology Department and will work on the registrar rota. 1 Eligibility Criteria Professional Qualifications/Experience, etc. Qualifications and/ or experience Essential skills, competencies and knowledge IMC registration or in the process of registering with IMC. Relevant qualifications. Relevant medical experience. Excellent English Language skills. Irish or UK experience preferable. Knowledge of practice development or guideline/s, policies and protocol development. Knowledge of audit and clinical learning environment Commitment and responsibility with respect to learning and clinical training. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Organisational skills, including time management Demonstrate the ability to treat patients, relatives and colleagues with dignity and respect Ability to motivate self and others Ability to work on his/her own initiative and within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to acquire knowledge in an efficient and effective manner Flexible in response to a changing clinical and technical environment Willingness to share knowledge with staff and colleagues. HEALTH SERVICES EXECUTIVE Terms and Conditions of Employment Tenure The appointment is fixed term for a period of 1 year. Appointment as an employee of the Health Service Executive is governed by the Health Act 2004 and the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004. Working Week 39 hours fulltime Remuneration The Salary scale for the post is Registrar salary (HSE rates) Travelling Expenses Travelling and subsistence expenses necessarily incurred in the course of 2 duties shall be met on the basis applicable to persons of appropriate their status in the public sector. Annual Leave The annual leave associated with the post is as per NCHD Contract Superannuation All pensionable staff become members of the pension scheme. Probation Every appointment of a person who is not already a permanent officer of the Health Service Executive or of a Local Authority shall be subject to a probationary period of 12 months as stipulated in the Department of Health Circular No.10/71. Age Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation Act, 2004).
