Constine, MD, FASTRO is Professor of Radiation Oncology and Pediatrics and Vice Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, and was awarded fellowship in his professional society, The American Society of Radiation Oncology. After graduating from Stanford University, and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he trained in pediatrics, pediatric oncology and radiation oncology, and has board certification in these areas. His clinical and scientific expertise is in lymphomas, sarcomas, all pediatric malignancies, and in the acute and chronic effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy on normal tissues. He is the Clinical Director of the University of Rochester Medical Center Survivorship Division, and the Radiation Chair of the Lymphoma Committee in the Southwest Oncology Group. He is on the core committees for the Children’s Oncology Group Survivorship Guidelines, the International Survivorship Harmonization Guidelines, and the Quantitative Analysis of Normal Tissue Effects in the Clinic ASTRO/AAPM initiative. He also serves on the Children’s Oncology Group Late Effects Steering Committee, and is senior advisor for the Children’s Oncology Group Hodgkin’s Disease Committee. Finally, he is involved in a United Nations initiative to develop a document on the adverse effects of radiation on children that he will present to the General Assembly in Vienna He is recipient of the Jacob Gitelman Award from Cancer Action, the “Make a Difference” Award from Melissa’s Legacy, and the Teddy award from Camp Good Days and Special Times. He is included in the America’s Top Doctors for Cancer, and recently became a Fellow of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. He is also a member of the Radiation Research Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology. He has authored (coauthored) more than 50 book chapters, five books and more than 100 original and invited reports.
