SENIOR ENGINEER
Elk Grove Village, Illinois (Pop. 33,127) is a strategically located, progressive
community that is home to the largest consolidated business park in North America
encompassing 5.4 square miles and home to 3400 businesses. The Village has initiated
an aggressive $45 million multi-year infrastructure rehabilitation program. The
improvements include street rehabilitation, water main replacement, sanitary sewer
lining, storm water culvert and ditch reconstruction, and streetscape enhancements.
The Department of Public Works is seeking a qualified Senior Engineer to assist in
overseeing the planning, design and construction of infrastructure improvements. The
Department is responsible for the development of contract documents as well as
construction observation for street, water main, sanitary, storm and related capital
improvement projects.
Reporting to the Chief Infrastructure Engineer, the Senior Engineer will provide a variety
of engineering duties including supervision of staff and consultants associated with the
development of conceptual designs, contract plans and specifications, contract bidding,
construction observation, project documentation, and community relations. The applicant
must have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil, structural and/or
hydraulic engineering, understanding of current standards, independent judgment, and
strong customer service skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
Five years experience in civil engineering design and/or construction with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field, including two years at a supervisory
level. Candidate shall possess a Professional Engineer’s license in Illinois or have the
ability to obtain within six months of hire. Considerable knowledge in the use of
Microsoft applications as well as MicroStation, Arc Map and GIS system operation.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction, and ability to work outside in
varying weather conditions.
