PROJECT INFORMATION
10. In which project would you like to participate? In case we are full at the project site you select,
please list the projects in order of preference.

b. Playa Costa de Oro
c. Playa San Miguel
d. Playa Corozalito
11. What dates will you be with the Project? Keep in mind that we only schedule in weekly
increments and that you should plan on flying into Costa Rica no later than one day prior to your
project start date and departing no earlier than one day after you leave the project site.
12. Which accommodations would you like?
a. Station house.
b. Overflow cabins.
13. Would you like Travel Assistance in Costa Rica from PRETOMA?
PACKAGE A. Includes: San Jose airport pick-up/drop-off, first and last night at Hotel in San José,
round trip flight San José / San Miguel/Corozalito/Costa de Oro, round trip 4X4 taxi to and from
projects. US$ 590 per person.
PACKAGE B. Includes: San Jose airport pick-up/drop-off, first and last night at Hotel in San José,
transfer to and from bus station in San José and bus tickets. US$ 280 per person.
If you choose any of these packages, please send us your arrival and departure flight information
(airline, flight number, date and time of departure/arrival) as soon as possible. ALL flights should be
scheduled to arrive and depart from Juan Santa Maria International (SJO) airport in San Jose, Costa
Rica.
14. Please let us know how you are paying (check, money order or bank wire).
All checks and money orders should be sent out no later than six weeks prior to your project start
date as the payment takes several weeks to arrive to Costa Rica and several weeks to clear with the
bank. Bank wires require an additional US$35 service fee.

During their time with PRETOMA’s sea turtle conservation programs, Project Participants are
expected to follow guidelines established to ensure the quality of project activities.
1. Project Volunteers will be working closely with other participants and members of the
community and should behave with respect and tolerance in order to keep a friendly
environment.
2. During their time with the program, Project Volunteers are representing PRETOMA and must
conduct themselves in an appropriate and professional manner.
3. Co-Directors and/or Field Coordinators can assign responsibilities to the Project Volunteers
related to the objectives of the project, as long as it does not affect the safety of the
participant.
4. Project Volunteers must follow the guidelines (related to work and security) assigned by CoDirectors and/or Field Coordinators.
5. The turtle monitoring (night patrols, data collection, etc) will be scheduled and assigned to
each Project Volunteer by the Field Coordinators and/or Co-Directors.
6. Project Volunteers are responsible for and expected to take good care of the materials and
equipment supplied to them for project duties.
7. Project Volunteers will not participate in activities not assigned by PRETOMA, unless it can
be assured that doing so will not affect the quality and efficiency of his/her duties related to
the project.
8. Alcohol and/or illegal drugs are not permitted at project sites.
9. Project Volunteers should not collect or extract species of flora and fauna (for example:
plants, seeds, shells, etc.) in the sites of the projects to elaborate crafts, trade, etc.
10. Project Volunteers must collaborate with the organization and cleaning of the common
areas, keeping the project area and surroundings clean.
11. Project Volunteers must practice good personal hygiene habits (take showers daily or when
needed, etc) during their time with the project out of respect for other project participants.
12. Letters of certification or recommendation for participants are under the discretion of
PRETOMA Co-Directors and/or Field Coordinators, who are not obligated to provide such
documents.
13. Participants must complete their agreed time period with the project.
14. A participant’s time with the project may be terminated if they: a) present a physical
disability that makes it impossible to undertake project activities or b) break any of
PRETOMA’s aforementioned guidelines.
15. Pretoma is not responsible for any injuries that occur or for any loss of your personal
belongings whilst working with Pretoma.
Project Participants are expected to follow these guidelines. PRETOMA Co-Directors and/or Field
Coordinators reserve the right to immediately terminate the participation of a Project Participant
who breaks any of the aforementioned guidelines or whose behavior is determined to negatively
affect or compromise the work and/or objectives of the Project.
Should a Project Participant choose to leave the project before their agreed term of participation
ends, or is expelled from the project for violating one or more of the above guidelines, no project
fees will be reimbursed.
