Your child will be issued an Algebra 2 work book of which they are able to write in. Lost books
will cost $25 to replace. For your convenience, blank pages may be printed at home, if needed,
from Edmodo or the Carnegie Learning web site.

Course Materials
 Pencils, preferably mechanical with extra lead
 3-ring binder (at least 1 inch)
 An eraser (preferably white, or clean erasing)
Grading Policy
Your child’s grade will be based on the following scale:
 10%
Assignments (graded on effort and completion)
 10%
Bell Work (graded on effort and completion)
 10%
Book Work (graded on effort and completion)
 50%
Assessments
 20%
Final Exam
Homework Policy

All work needs to be shown for credit.

Your child will have an assignment almost every day.

All work is due the following day, unless otherwise specified.

Late work will be taken at half credit provided it is turned in before the corresponding test
day.

No credit will be given to late work that is turned in on or after the corresponding test day.

All suspension work will have the same number of days as suspended, from the first day back
to school. (For example: If suspended for 5 days, then all the work will be due 5 days starting the
day back from suspension.)

Cell Phone Policy
Occasionally, cell phones will be allowed to be used in class to help with the learning process. Cell phones will NOT be
allowed for phone calls or texts. NO EXCEPTIONS. With permission, your child may use the classroom phone or the office
phone, if needed.
Violations:



1st time: A warning will be given
2nd time: Will be taken and given back after class
3 or more times: Will be sent to the office to be picked up after school or by parents (suspensions are possible)
Group Work
For the majority of this class, your child will be working with other students to help them learn and retain what we are studying
in class. If your child needs any accommodations with sitting in groups, front/back of the classroom, etc. please email me and I
will do my best to accommodate the needs of your child.
Classcraft
To help motivate your student to do well in class, we will be playing a game every day called Classcraft. A parent handout is
attached that explains the mechanics of how we will play the game. Please email me if you have further questions. You may
also visit www.classcraft.com to view a video that will also provide a nice overview of the game.
Additional Information








No food or drink (except water in a closed container) is allowed in the classroom.
Hats are to be worn outside the classroom. This includes hoodies, beanies, etc.
Bad language will not be tolerated.
Music players (MP3, iPod, etc.) may not be used unless that ability is used within the game. (Note: it has to be earned)
Restroom passes will only be given once per class. If there is a medical issue, please email me so I can accommodate
your student.
If your child is late 10 or more minutes, they will be marked absent.
I will send grade reports through email at least once every three weeks.
Your child can only be absent 5 days. If absent more than 5 days, it may result in being dropped from the class.
