Full Council Membership & Responsibilities
Membership to this exclusive Communication Alumni Council is by invitation only and
includes a financial commitment of $1,000 annually ($500 for alumni who have
graduated within the last ten years). Funds are used to support the group’s activities,
and departmental initiatives such as career development and student-alumni activities.
Council members attend two meetings per year, either in person or virtually through a
call-in or Skype. The Communication Alumni Council meets twice a year, once in the
fall and once in the spring. The spring meeting is in conjunction with the annual All
Gaucho Reunion. Meetings of the Council will focus on strategy and advice regarding
career education, development, and alumni networking. Council members also
participate in events for career education and alumni networking.
Benefits to membership: By making a financial commitment to support the activities of the
Alumni Council, members become part of the Chancellor's Council, UC Santa Barbara’s
premier annual giving program that recognizes a special group of investors for their
annual gifts to the University. Membership also includes a campus parking pass, a
library privilege, recognition in the Annual Report and Donor Honor Roll and
invitations to all campus and regional events, including departmental events, lectures
and conferences
Friend of the Council
Alumni who want to help the Department and the Council but cannot attend regular
meetings or commit to participating in events can join the Council as a friend. This
membership includes the same financial commitment and same benefits as a full Council
member, but without the commitment to attend meetings and events.
Supporter of the Council
Alumni who want to volunteer their time to help the Council with organizing career
education events, alumni networking or other activities can join the Council for $250
annually with the expectation that they will give 10 hours of service per year. Even
though they are not expected to attend regular meetings, they are invited to do so since
they help with planning Council events and activities.
