Job Description – Communications Officer
Responsible to: Kanika Selvan
(Director and Project Manager of Parallel
Roads)
Salary: Voluntary Position
Expenses paid for all travel required
Hours: 5-10 per week
Depends on stage of personal projects
Annual Leave: n/a

Based: Satellite Working
Working and communicating through email,
Skype and occasional meeting
Fixed Term: 6-12 months
Flexible depending on volunteer
requirements
Main Aims of the Post
Responsible for overseeing and guiding company communications related decisions.
Advising, managing, networking and developing web, social media and paper outcomes in
accordance with overall company aims and ethics.
Main duties
1. Producing or managing the production of numerous different PR social
outcomes such as - website design, Facebook and Twitter account etc
2. To recruit and network with other experts working to create connections on
behalf of the business
3. To develop with directors communications objectives within the larger
business, business planning and taking to term with an understanding of the
companies brand and audience
4.Managing the production of graphics used within the company and any
social outcomes produced by the company4
5. Producing company policy and guidelines for social communications within
PR
6.With time this role could be developed further, to the management of all
social media volunteers for the business
General Work Related Expectations
1. To work within Parallel Roads company, Ethos and Vision.
2. To contribute to the development of PR
3. To work in accordance with all Policies and Procedures of PR
4. To identify and attend training as required
5. To work in accordance with all relevant legislation
6. To undergo regular supervision and an annual appraisal
7. To undertake any other duties as required, appropriate to the post
Person Specification – Communications Officer
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they meet all the
following points.
Employment Experience
-Experience or understanding of a professional working environment, use of
email communication etiquette etc
-Experience or understanding of administrative work
-Experience voluntary or otherwise with event or project planning
-Experience either voluntary or professionally or managing numerous different
communications related projects
Educational Background/Training
-With or without professional education this applicant would need to be able to
demonstrate their ability to produce and develop social outcomes to a high
level
Knowledge
-An understanding or interest in social business, the Manchester area, youth
community development
Skills

-The ability to manage their own time and meet deadlines
-The ability to work flexibly and in a dynamic manner
