Refuse Collections & Recycling Mondays - Garden Greens Collection KEHOA offers a greens collection service to Rsidents of the Estate. Garden refuse (plant material only) must be placed in Garden Greens Collection Bags (available from the Estate office at a nominal fee) outside your property every Monday morning at 07h00. Should you require greens collection on any other day or you have a large collection which is not in bags, please book a special collection at the Estate Office. This service is offered from Tuesday to Friday, subject to availability. Please do not leave your garden refuse on the pavement on any other day as you will be penalised by the Estate Office. This organic waste goes into landfills and creates poisonous methane gas that is released into the atmosphere - and it’s avoidable! It's so easy to participate - all you need to start is to register with the Estate Office and purchase your biodegradable bags (you can also do this via email, info@kyalamiestates.co.za). Once you have your bags follow the easy steps below and you are on your way: 1. Put your bag into a suitably sized sealable container - around 10 to 12l is the optimal size. (If you don’t have one there is a wide and reasonably priced selection available at Plastic Land.) 2. Place all your kitchen leftovers (this includes chicken, meat, fish and bones) as well as vegetables, fruit, egg shells, tea bags - basically any food waste – into the container. 3. Put your bag out on your pavement for collection every week. The Comp-O-Skip collection takes place every Monday morning - just pop your bag out on the pavement. If your bag fills up before the collection takes place, you can drop off your full bag at the specially marked bins at both gates. Once the organic waste has been processed, the resultant compost will be given back to all the residents who have participated. Wednesdays - Municipal Refuse Collection Please place your refuse in your municipal wheelie bins (in black refuse bags purchased from supermarkets) on the pavement on the morning of collection only. Thursdays – Whole Earth Recycling Please place your recyclables in a green bag (available from the Estate office at a nominal fee) on your pavement every Thursday. There is no need to sort your recyclables – everything can go into one bag. Whole Earth will collect these bags free of charge. For a full list of what can and cannot be recycled, please visit the website, www.wholeearth.co.za. We strongly urge you to utilize this service.
