RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Gulf of Maine Research Institute Climate-Fisheries Research Intern
2014
Developed Microsoft Access database of relevant climate and fisheries research in New England
and contributed to synthesis of regional research efforts that focus on how changes in
environmental conditions and climate affect living marine resources and commercial fisheries in
New England
Fisheries Forum Forage Fish Policy Research Assistant
2013-2014
Analyzed fishery management plans and policy decisions made by the eight US regional
fisheries management councils regarding forage fish and ecosystem-based management;
provided live updates to the forage fish regional scoping document prepared as background for
the next Managing Our Nation’s Fisheries conference; prepared memoranda regarding
recreational fishing and non-commercial fishing motivations and levels of satisfaction with
management practices; assisted in identifying potential speakers to discuss the aforementioned
topics in preparation for the 2014 East Coast Forum
Contracted Maine Department of Marine Resources River Herring Researcher
2013
Researched juvenile and adult river herring (alosine) populations in Maine rivers; worked with
local alewife fishermen and lobstermen in testing bycatch reduction devices; set up and
monitored video-recording equipment; analyzed video and developed and managed crowdsourcing population assessment website

Bowdoin College Department of Biology Senior Honors Recipient
2012-2013
Completed honors thesis on crustacean predation response behavior to luminescent displays of
Harmothoe imbricata and effect of luminescent behavior on the worms’ survivorship
Doherty Coastal Studies Research Fellow
Summer 2012
Studied the effect of luminescent behavior on the survivorship of the intertidal scale worm
Harmothoe imbricata; three-dimensionally recorded predator-scale worm interactions;
investigated predator-driven scale movement analysis using Tracker and MATLAB software;
isolated sensory modalities of predators to determine how bioluminescent displays are
interpreted
CIEE Bonaire Tropical Marine Ecology and Conservation Student
Summer 2011
Examined the effects of the lionfish invasion on native species; analyzed the effectiveness of
Marine Protected Areas; researched how fishing of apex predators has changed ecosystem
interactions; learned how to conduct AGRRA transects, video transects, quadrat transects, etc…
following AAUS protocols
