Call for BRCA1 and BRCA2 Carriers: University of Chicago Cancer

advertisement
Dear Genetic Counselor or Health Professional:
I am writing on behalf of The University of Chicago Cancer Risk Clinic. We are involved in
many exciting research initiatives, including the CIMBA consortium, which studies modifiers of
risk in BRCA1/BRCA2 carriers. Currently, they have samples on over 50,000 carriers, with the
majority being individuals from Europe. Our center contributes our mutation carriers to their
efforts, particularly our non-Caucasian samples. We are interested in pooling samples from the
greater Chicago area to contribute to CIMBA and other research studies. Currently, we have a
DNA banking protocol open to any cancer risk patient who would like to contribute a sample. If
any of your patients, particularly mutation carriers (BRCA1/2 and other genes) are interested, we
are able to take care of the consenting process and mail them a kit for blood draw or saliva
collection. We may request additional clinical details from your center. Please contact Sarah
Nielsen, genetic counselor, at 773-702-4749 or snielsen@medicine.bsd.uchicago.edu for
additional information.
Sincerely,
Sarah Nielsen, MS, CGC
