Cinema & Television — The New Jersey Connection

American Cinema and Television, from Thomas Edison’s Black Maria Studio, to celebrating the
numerous Jersey-born artists that have starred on the big and little screens. Walter showcases

Raising Financially Responsible Children & Young Adults

Attitudes and habits about money are picked up from kids’ parents, peers, and media at an early

Open Mic Night

You are invited to attend these monthly events at which members of the community are invited
to share their talents. The Open Mic Nights will continue at the library on the last Thursday of
each month. Participants are welcome to sing a song, read a poem, perform a dramatic
monologue, juggle, dance, or do stand-up. Local talent is invited to participate and try out new
material. The event is open to anyone in the arts, including writers, actors, voice artists,
musicians, singers, and dancers. [Please note that there may be adult content, and parents are

Creating with Clay

You are invited to a hands-on pottery class using self-drying clay to create your own pottery
project, a pumpkin for the Fall season. You will be introduced to the hand-building methods of

Learn to Play the Guitar!
An 8-week “Introduction to Guitar” class is being offered on Saturdays, September 19 –
November 21 (no class November 14) from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Johnson Public Library.
Concert performance on November 21. Hackensack children ages 8 to 18 are welcome to
register. Each person must commit to participating for all 8 weeks of the program. There is a
materials fee of $50.00 per participant. For Hackensack residents only. To register and/or for
