New Jersey professionals age 55+ with skills, talent and generosity of spirit can make a
social impact and reinvest a career’s worth of experience towards serving nonprofit or public
institutions. Serve your community while also earning a stipend. To learn more, register to

Vase & Flowers Drawing Class
Thursday, July 16, at 1:30 - 3:00 pm
Learn about the artist Henri Matisse and his artwork. Then create your own vase and flower
drawing based on Matisse’s style. You will learn how to use lines, shapes, and angles to help
complete your drawing. Regular pencils and watercolor pencils will be used (provided by
instructor). Instructor Barbara Freiberg has a BA in Studio Art and has been creating and
teaching art classes for several years. Registration is required. Preference to Hackensack
residents (others will be put on a waiting list). Space is limited, so early registration is

Open Mic Night!
Thursday, July 30, at 7:00 pm
You are invited to join our monthly Open Mic events at which members of the community are
invited to share their talents. The Open Mic Nights will continue at the library on the last
Thursday of each month. Participants are welcome to sing a song, read a poem, perform a
dramatic monologue, juggle, dance, or do stand-up. Local talent is invited to participate and try
out new material. The event is open to anyone in the arts, including writers, actors, voice artists,
musicians, singers, and dancers. (Please note that this program is intended for adults. Some
