HOMECOMING 2014

QUEEN & KING CANDIDATES

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

*CANDIDATE INFORMATION MEETING on Tuesday, Oct. 28th at 1:00pm.

This special meeting will be held in the ICC Office (Activity Center) to discuss the

Homecoming activities and the Homecoming election guidelines.

EACH CANDIDATE MAY PROVIDE ONE PHOTO FOR DISPLAY AT THE

POLLING LOCATION . A photo of an individual candidate may be in color or black and white and no larger than 8 ½” x 11”. Photos are due in the Student Development Office at the

Activities Center by Thursday, Oct. 30 th at 1:00pm. Photos turned in late will be included on the display as space permits.

CAMPAIGNING period is from Tuesday, Oct. 28 th (after the candidate’s meeting) through

Wednesday, Nov. 5 th . Candidates should read the Election Guidelines for specific campaigning procedures.

HOMECOMING PEP-RALLY is on Tuesday, November 4 th from 1:00-2:00pm on the stage of the Activities Center. Candidates should meet at the ramp near the stage promptly at 12:45pm. Included on the agenda for the rally will be the club banner contest, pep squad routines, introduction of the Homecoming Queen and

King candidates and presentation of the ECC Football team.

VOTING Tuesday, November 4 th from 10am-2pm on the Library Lawn

Wednesday, November 5 th from 10am-2pm on the Library Lawn

(If bad weather, voting will be moved into the Activities Center)

*CANDIDATES MANDATORY MEETING will be on Friday, November 7 th at

8:30pm in the Activities Center West Conference Room to receive last minute instructions.

*The Black and White Affair- The Homecoming Queen and King will be presented at the dance (9:00pm-12:00am midnight) on Friday, November 7 in the

East Dining Room (Above Bookstore).

Admission is $3 for students with ASB and $5 for students without ASB.

QUEEN & KING ELECTION GUIDELINES

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ECC HOMECOMING QUEEN AND KING

1.

All candidates must be currently enrolled students at El Camino College.

2.

All candidates must submit an official application form by Monday, October 27th at 5:30pm (to Breanna von

Stein in the Student Development Office)

HOMECOMING ELECTION

3.

An election will be held at which time any ECC student (with photo ID) may vote once for one queen and one king candidate. The candidates who receive the most votes for queen and king will be crowned at the

“The Black and White Affair” Dance.

HOMECOMING ELECTION GUIDELINES

4.

Violators of these Homecoming Election Guidelines may be disqualified from the elections and from holding the titles of Homecoming Queen and King.

5.

At all times during the campaigning period candidates must remain within the limits of the California

Education Code, El Camino College Board Policy, Campus Publicity Procedures and the A.S.O.

Constitution.

6.

At no time shall a candidate's posters, flyers, or other campaign materials be torn down or defaced in any way during the campaign period.

7.

At no time during the voting period will campaigning be allowed within 30 feet of the polls. Candidates are responsible for others who are campaigning on their behalf. No amplified sound may be used by campaigners.

8.

All campaign material must be approved by the Student Development Office staff and one copy left in that office.

9.

Food distribution is limited to pre-packaged items only and items approved by ECC Campus Food Services.

10.

All posters and fliers should be reproduced off-campus at the campaigner's expense. The ECC Copy Center may not be used for duplicating campaign materials – even if a student organization is sponsoring a candidate. The ECC Activities Center supplies and materials are off limits for campaigning purposes.

11.

Campaign posters, signs or flyers (maximum size: 8 ½” x 11” shall be only be posted on: a) Kiosks - each candidate is limited to one sign per side of each kiosk with a limit of two signs per kiosk. Signs shall not exceed 8 ½” x 11”. Each candidate can be publicized on one poster only on each side of each kiosk, even if multiple candidates are on a poster. BRING YOUR SIGNS TO

THE STUDENT DEVELOPMENT OFFICE TO BE POSTED ON THE 3 KIOSKS BY

ECC STAFF ONLY (3 kiosks x 2 signs = MAXIMUM 6 SIGNS).

b) Division building bulletin boards (permission from deans required) c) Due to limited space – large banners advertising candidates will not be permitted d) Please turn in one additional Flyer for the Student Development Offices Records.

12.

No campaign materials may be displayed on the outside of campus buildings or on campus grounds including parking lots.

13.

Campaign material will be removed following the election.

14.

All grievances must be submitted in writing to Greg Sonnen or Joy Mo, Homecoming Chairperson c/o the

Student Development Office.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES!

1.

This application must be completed, signed by the candidate & organization’s adviser, and turned in no later than

5:30pm on October 27th to Breanna von Stein in the Student Development Office located in the Activities Center.

2.

All candidates should pick up a Homecoming Candidate Information Sheet in the Student Development Office. It includes a full calendar of activities and the election guidelines.

3.

All candidates should attend the Candidates Meeting on Tuesday, October 28 th at 1:00pm (ICC OFFICE)
