La Coop Establishment & Farm Transfer Award Contest
Form for the “Establishment of an Agricultural Enterprise” category
Contest goal
Develop and encourage succession for young farmers by rewarding agricultural enterprise start-ups and planned farm transfers.
Conditions of Participation
Be a member and client of a cooperative in the La Coop Network.
Be no more than 40 years old in the year of participation.
Recommendation: the team at the enterprise must be recommended by the board of directors of the cooperative and provide a
signed letter from the president
Types of transfers: agricultural and agri-food start-ups
Terms
Participants must include a letter of recommendation from the board of directors of their cooperative. The letter must include the
reasons the enterprise should win the contest as the quality of the content in the letter will be considered in the jury’s evaluation.
The deadline for receipt of applications is May 1st, 2015 at 5:00pm.
A jury will confidentially review the candidates and select 5 semi-finalists for farm interviews.
After that, the 5 semi-finalists:

Will be subject to a technical-economic analysis

Must submit copies of their shareholder agreement and financial statements for the two previous years (2013
and 2014)
Three finalists will be chosen by the jury following this selection process. They will be invited to the banquet at La Coop’s 2016
annual general meeting.
A journalist and videographer will visit the finalists to create short videos and articles in the Coopérateur agricole.
The final winner will be announced at the banquet for La Coop’s 2016 annual general meeting.

$3,000 credit at Unimat, BMR, La Coop or Sonic
2ndprize: two prizes for the two other finalists
