In this assignment you will work in groups to discover what happens to our brains when we become addicted to chemical substances (entering an altered state of consciousness) and the many different methods of treating the various types of addiction. After reading several articles, pamphlets and the textbook (pg. 197-202) dealing with chemical addiction you will work in groups to create a pamphlet that describes a method of treatment that helps a person deal with a specific addiction. Below you will find a list of the various types of addictive substances and the different treatment plans. Your group will be assigned a substance. After receiving your group’s substance you need to select a treatment plan that is appropriate for the substance. Your group will be given two class periods to work on this project. Day one you will gain the necessary knowledge. Day two you will create your pamphlet.
