Sixth Grade Civilization Project “Design Your Own Museum Room” Due: February 12, 2016 Select a civilization to research. Any civilization in your social studies book through chapter 16 will qualify, but in order to encourage diversity, no more than two students may research one particular dynasty or empire. Using library and Internet sources, you are to identify a minimum of 8 artifacts from your chosen civilization that you would like to include in a museum room (or rooms) of your own creation. The artifacts will then be made (e.g., clay or cardboard), drawn to scale (resized if using website pictures), and attractively displayed inside a box or on a sturdy board. Each item must be numbered on the 3D model as well as listed (typed) on a separate sheet of paper with detailed information. It is very important to choose artifacts that apply to your specific civilization. Make sure there is a variety of items (do not, for example, include only pottery). Try to provide an aesthetically pleasing experience for the “visitors” to your museum, such as adding tables or shelves to your room(s) to display the artifacts. Also, you may want to check out a floor plan for a museum by searching online or planning a visit to a museum in our area. You must list all books and Internet resources in a bibliography. Include your name and civilization somewhere on the 3D model and also at the top of your written notes. You will use those notes when you take the class on a “tour” of your civilization. Do your research, be creative, and have fun!
