The B ANYAN A RT C HALLENGE is a series of juried art competitions open to the public and to all artists 18 years of age and older. The competitions are a centerpiece of our campaign to educate the public and families in high-risk neighborhoods in South Florida about the serious crisis in behavioral health facing
children, adolescents, adults, and elders in our communities: The B EHAVIORAL H EALTH OF A C HILD /
L IFECYCLE V IEW OF A L IFELONG H EALTH I SSUE .
Art has a vital and therapeutic influence on the lives and imagination of the children and families we serve. Through the art competitions, we are seeking to capture the spirit of its emotional and therapeutic importance while drawing attention to the plight of children and families affected by diseases of the brain. The competitions will each have a thematic focus. This 1 st competition is for our Child &
Family Counseling Center in Little Havana, where the art will be on exhibit. It will have the theme of reflection on positive and memorable childhood experiences.
