The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University is seeking applications for a tenure track, assistant professor. Consideration of applications for an associate or full professor level position may be given to exceptionally well-qualified individuals. Cornell Biomedical Engineering is a department formed to act as an intellectual bridge between engineering and the physical sciences and biology and medicine. The mission of the department is to conduct research and to educate students to understand the human body as an integrated system through quantitative, multiscale analysis linking molecular biology to cellular biology to tissue/organ physiology and ultimately to the response of physiological systems. The applicant's research should fit into one of the department's research foci: Biomaterials and Drug Delivery; Biomedical Imaging; Biomedical Mechanics; Micro-and Nano-biotechnology; and Molecular, Cellular, and Tissue Engineering. Candidates whose research includes development of novel techniques in optical imaging or instrumentation are particularly encouraged to apply although candidates in any of the research foci will be considered. The Department of Biomedical Engineering and the College of Engineering at Cornell embrace diversity and seek candidates who will create a climate that attracts students of all races, nationalities, and genders. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply. Cornell University seeks to meet the needs of dual-career couples, has a Dual Career program, and is a member of the Upstate New York Higher Education Recruitment Consortium to assist with dual-career searches.
