DNA EXTRACTION LAB PORPUSE: The porpuse of this lab was to extract DNA from the strawberry. A second porpuse of this lab was that the students watch how is strawbwrry DNA. PROCEDURE: 1. Place the strawberries in a bag. 2. Gently squish the strawberries. 3. Add 15 ml dish soap to the bag with the strawberries. 4. Add 100 ml of warm water to the bag. 5. Gently squish the solution for one minute. 6. Pass the solution throw a filter. 7. Finaly take out the DNA from the strawberries. DATA/RESULTS: The results of the lab were that first time the plastic bag splotes because we did very hard squishing the bag. When we finish squishing the strawberry we pass it throw a filter and finaly we could get the strawberry DNA. QUESTIONS: 1. Where can DNA can found in the cell? In the chromosomes. 2. 1small cell can hold up to 2 meters of DNA, how it posible to fit this inside? Because they condence. 3. What do you think the porpuse of the soap and alcohol was in this activity? That it separate the DNA 4. Describe what choromosomes are made of and how they are organized? DNA and proteins 5. How can extracting DNA from organisms help scientists learn about them? To learn of what is it madeof and how it help as. CONCLUTION: The porpuse of this lab was to identify the DNA of the strawberry adding soap, water and alcohol. This can be related to our real life because all of us have DNA. We learn about DNA that if you add alcohol, soap and water DNA would separate. We understand everything really good. Specifically about how can DNA separate.
