Miss Oconee Belle Pageant
As a Miss Oconee Belle Contestant:
We are thrilled you have decided to participate in our first ever Miss Oconee Belle pageant! We look forward to
this pageant being an anticipated event for years to come. The pageant is set for Saturday, April 11 at the
Walhalla Civic Auditorium at 5:00. Tickets for the pageant will be sold at the door at $5.00 each. A schedule is
attached with this packet.
Participants in the pageant will have a few commitments to the community, if chosen as our queen. During Miss
Oconee Belle’s reign, she will be expected to be present at Issaqueena’s Last Ride in Walhalla (April 25, 2015).
She will also serve as the grand marshal of the parade and hostess of the event for the Mayfest Art of Living in
Walhalla (May 15 and 16, 2015) and the Bellfest at Lake Jocassee, March 14, 2016. The time commitment for
these events will not be unreasonable and we are sure they will be enjoyable for Miss Oconee Belle.
The pageant will consists of four judging criteria. The first is an interview opportunity from two of our merchants
in Walhalla. The specific time(s) and place(s) will be announced at the mandatory rehearsal, April 6. The next
phase will be a reception held at the Walhalla Civic Auditorium Reception Hall. This will take place prior to the
pageant and will give each contestant an opportunity to meet the pageant judges in a “tea like” setting. The
next phases of judging will be at the pageant with casual and formal wear.
There will also be a Facebook “likes” vote for “Most Photogenic” where your photo will be placed on a specially
created page of the Walhalla Area Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page. “Likes” will be counted as votes.
The judging sheets will be property of the Walhalla Area Chamber of Commerce and will in no way be shared
with the contestants or their parents.
All contestants must be currently enrolled in an Oconee County high school.
Miss Oconee Belle will receive a $250 scholarship.
For your attire, your merchant interviews should be business wear. The reception wear should be a tea
appropriate outfit (no sundresses, jeans, etc.) and this will also serve as your casual on stage outfit. The formal
wear should be a dress of your choice. We ask that you choose appropriate outfits for all pageant activities.
A non-refundable entry fee of $50 must be paid along with the completed application and agreement form.
These should be mailed to the address below no later than March 10, 2015. Please make checks payable to
Walhalla Area Chamber of Commerce. You should also provide a headshot photo with a high resolution to
info@walhallachamber.com, for our press releases and use on our Facebook page.
You will be expected to always conduct yourself in a ladylike fashion during this pageant process and the
ensuing events. Please let us know if you have questions. We look forward to your participation in our Miss

Things to remember:




Rehearsal is closed to everyone with the exception of one parent per contestant.
Please be on time for rehearsal, interviews and reception.
You will be allowed to have someone assist you in bringing your dress to the dressing area, but they
must leave immediately. There will be ladies there to assist you in dressing.
No one except contestants are allowed back stage or in the dressing area after 4:30 the day of the
pageant.
