WANTED: A part-time aide at The Atonement
Academy for two days a week. Are you “retired?”
Here’s a reason to get out of the house and work
with our future generation. Starting pay is $9/hr.
Why not give it a try?
Dear Parishioners,
Our Building Expansion is making progress
each week. The construction trailer is here, the
fencing is back up, and the survey stakes have
been placed. We’ve also designed a flyer which is
a small version of a 4’x8’ color sign which will be
placed at the road. (See the back of this page)!
We congratulate our talented young people: The
Atonement Academy placed two of our three
students in the Texas All-State Choirs.
Maura Navarrete; Soprano 2 – 5th Chair Texas AllState Women’s Choir and Mary Henriquez; Alto 1
- 1st Chair Texas All-State Mixed Choir.
And, our Academy 6th and 8th grade students
entered the VFW–sponsored Patriot’s Pen
essay competition last Fall. The theme this year
was “What Freedom Means to Me.” Our local
VFW Post 7108 awarded their top three places to
The Atonement Academy scholars! Earning 1st
Place and $300 was Maria Garza (8), 2nd Place
and $200 was Kathleen Morrow (8), 3rd Place and
$100 was Thomas Waterman (6). Additionally,
VFW Post 76 awarded their top three places to
Academy students as well. Earning 1st Place and
$300 was Alyssa Borges (8), 2nd Place and $200
was Dominic Peters (6), 3rd Place and $100 was
Cecilia Campbell (6). Congratulations to these
students and their teacher, Mrs. Otten!
We are so proud of our Seniors who will
graduate in June. Even this early in the year, all
of them have been accepted to a 4-year university.
Since our first graduating class in 2008, every
senior, every year, has been accepted. That’s right
-- we have a 100% acceptance rate, and this class,
in particular, has accumulated over $1.9 million
dollars in scholarships by the end of December,
and they’re still coming in. Their AP scores are
above the State of Texas average, and greater than
the global average which includes Asian and
European scores, and the Senior scores have been
rising for the last five years! The average SAT
score for this class is 1807, more than 300 points
above the national average, according to the
College Board. We have a perfect scorer in the
National Latin Exam, too. Overall, our Blue
Ribbon, Catholic Honor Roll, and National Merit
Scholar status continues to confirm that The
Atonement Academy College Preparatory does
deliver what it promises: well-rounded, gifted,
faithful men and women, who can meet the
challenges of tomorrow. God bless our Senior
class!
