University of Winchester OPEN DAY – Video dialogue transcript Opening Address Joy Carter: Vice principle: Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning a very warm welcome to all of you to the University of Winchester. I’m here to talk to you about the University in general and then after that you have the opportunity to explore different programmes and have a look at the facilities in more detail. So we have lots of wonderful history but at the same time, as you will see as you look round, lots of modern buildings and we are a university for the 21st century. And we’ve won an award, we are in the top 10 universities nationwide for the quality of our accommodation, as judged by the students. I’ve been on the accommodation tour, so that should help me decide where I want to be living. 2. West Downs, wasn’t it, that we looked at and its really....it looks communal and its really nice, there’s a garden. Everybody seems really friendly. Three years ago I was actually shown around Winchester University on the tour guides, everyone was very light a bubbly..I got a good vibe from the place, you know, which really stood compared to other Universities. If you really feel strongly that education is where you are going and as a mature student you may well have already done a lot of thinking about this, then I would suggest actually yes it probably is worth specialising in psychology with child development.
