Information Packet

The W. H. Harrison Athletic Hall of Fame will award two $1000 scholarships to two graduating senior varsity
athletes this school year. These scholarships are a one-time, non-renewable type award. One scholarship will
be awarded to a female student-athlete and one scholarship will be awarded to a male student-athlete
(Exception: student managers, student trainers, or other outstanding student contributors to the athletic program
may be considered). Applicants must have participated in at least one varsity sport for a minimum of three
years (does not have to be the same sport for all three years).
The scholarship must be used at a two-year or four-year accredited college or university or an accredited trade
school and must be used within the academic year following high school graduation. The scholarship may only
be used for tuition, fees, supplies or other necessary educational expenses. In the event a scholarship recipient
fails to complete the first academic year and a partial refund of tuition is due, it shall be returned to the W. H.
Harrison High School Athletic Hall of Fame (exceptions considered for extenuating circumstances).
Eligibility Considerations:
 Resident of Southwest Local School District
 Currently a senior at W.H. Harrison High School or Great Oaks
 Varsity athlete for a minimum of three years (must include senior year, unless extenuating
circumstances exist which prevent participation during senior year)
 Grade Point Average
 School/Community Activities
 Interview may be required
 Other scholarships
 Coach/Activity Sponsor Recommendations
 ACT and/or SAT scores
 High School Transcript (through seven semesters)
 Copy of acceptance letter from college, university or trade school (if available)
Process:
 Applications are available in the Guidance Office: January and February
 Application Deadline (All materials are due in the Guidance Office by Wednesday, February 24, 2016)
 Selection of recipients (made by committee as determined by Athletic Hall of Fame)
 Scholarships will be presented at the annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
 Scholarship awards will paid directly to college, university or trade school
