Application Manual Fry Words This is a low reading level application. This app allows 1st - 4th grade readers to practice their pronunciation of basic words while moving up in the ranks throughout the game. This is an easy way to let the kids recognize words as they are spelled out on a screen. Directions: 1. This application requires the sound to be on the device. 2. Open application and choose appropriate tier of words. 3. The app will then read a word aloud for the student to hear. 4. The student will have three options to choose. 5. If chosen correctly, will move to the next set of words. Short Vowel Mahjong This is a 1st - 4th grade reading level application. This app allows the student to become familiar with common vowels within separate words. This is a challenging application that will keep the high level readers busy. Directions: 1. This application requires the sound to be on the device. 2. Open application and click top tile. 3. The word of the picture will be read aloud. 4. Then the student must choose a tile that isn’t covered up that has the same vowel as the first word. 5. If chosen correctly, tiles will disappear and student will continue to choose more tiles. 6. Continue until tiles are gone. Phonics Vowels- Short Vowels, Long Vowels, Two Vowels This is a 2nd – 4th grade reading level application. This app allows students to create words and match them together with pictures. This is a challenging application that will keep your students busy. Directions: 1. This application requires the sound to be on the device. 2. Open application 3. Choose a word to practice with. 4. The broken word will appear at the bottom of the screen with a picture above it. 5. To the left will be letters the student can drag and drop into the gaps of the word. 6. Drag the letters to create the word that the picture is portraying. 7. Once the correct word is created, the student will move on to the next picture and eventually the next word. Sentence Reading magic (difficulty level: normal) Two games included are “Sentence Building” and “ Sentence Reading” 1) Sentence Building Two options are “2 words” and “3 words” For both games, you will only have to drag words into the correct boxes at the bottom of the screen. To go to the next sentence, press the arrow button on the right of the screen. Click the word to hear the pronunciation. *Tips and notes _There is no “back” option so you can’t go to the previous sentence. _The home button will disappear once you enter the game. Instead there will be a circle icon on the top left of the screen. To go home, press the circle to open “ Options Setup” window then click home icon. More options can be found there such as word sounds, word hints, completion sound and announce sentence. _To make the game more challenge, un-mark “Announce Sentence” _To hear the sentence again, click the picture. 2) Sentence reading Two options are “2 words “and “3 words” Click on the word to hear pronunciation of that word or click on the big blank box in the middle of the screen to hear the full sentence. *Tips and note: _ Home button will still be hidden but it can be found by clicking the circle icon on the top left of the screen. _ When un-marking “word hints” in Option Setup window, there will be no sound when press on the word. Phonics Awareness (easy) Games included are: Segment, Blend, Vowels and Check yourself. There are voice instruction for each game so it is very easy to follow. Tips and notes: _ Letters within each word aren’t put in box or separated by any mean but they can be dragged separately. _There is a “back” option but there is NO “forward” button. _The graphic is not very attractive so the game can get boring after short time. Sight Words 2 Introducing Sight Words 2 with Word Bingo! All new words in this comprehensive Sight Words app with multiple games, including Word Bingo! This app is designed to educate and entertain 1st and 2nd graders, Pre-Schoolers, Kindergarteners. Directions: -First turn the sound on on the device; it will be located on the side of the device. -Once the app is open you will be given the choice of grade, chose one. -Word tour basically spells out words for the student, allowing them to say them allowed and spell them on their own. -Find n Shoot puts words in clouds, and once a student has said the word correctly, they press on the cloud. -In unscramble, a word is presented at the top, then the letters of that word are scrambled below. The objective is just to simply spell out the word with the scrambled letters. -The objective of memory game is to click a cloud, have the student memorize what word is under the cloud, then find the same matching word under another cloud. Once the cloud is touched the word disappears and challenges the student to memorize where it was located. -Bingo the student listens to the word spoken through the device, and basically plays Bingo! -Once you are in a game, there will be a house located in usually the lower right hand corner, if you want to return back to the main screen, click the house. HMH Readers This app is an innovative process used to help young readers better their reading skills. Fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary are all targeted by this app. Now with the ability to record and playback audio and video, the app is better than ever! Phonics Tic Tac Toe This app uses the American favorite, Tic Tac Toe, in order to develop children’s language skills. Targeting ages 6-8 years old, this fast paced app increases vocabulary, reaction time, and cognitive ability. The app centers around syllables and vowel sounds. Super Why This application is very self-explanatory and suitable for very basic level readers. Have the sound on, and the characters will explain word for word what to do. The games consist of filling in the blanks within sentences according to the story and the picture provided. Word Spinner This game is slightly advanced and is more suitable for 4th grade reading level kids. 1. The opening screen will appear with a play button in the bottom left screen. 2. Hit the button to transfer to a screen that gives you an option to choose how many players you would like to play with. 3. Then choose your game piece. 4. Then players will take turns spinning the wheel. 5. Your spin will choose a mini game for you to play. 6. Play the mini game and then move your game piece to the correct spot on the playing board. 7. The first to the end wins!! WordWorld This game is a base level game for low-level readers. 1st and 2nd grade readers would be well suited for this game. 1. Have the volume on to hear instructions. 2. Once the app is opened, it will take you to the opening screen. 3. Choose one of the four characters to play their individual game dealing with words and word placement. 4. Once the character is chosen it will take you to a new screen where the game will be explained and played.
