REGENTS RACQUETS CLUB
CONSTITUTION
NAME
The Club shall be known as the Regent Racquets Club (hereinafter referred to as “the
Club”)
OBJECTS
To provide for its members an environment to facilitate the playing of racquet sports and
fitness utilising squash courts with particular emphasis on the games of Squash and
Racketball including team matches, team competitions and individual competitions.
GROUND
The Club will be based at Fort Regent, Mount Bingham, St Helier, Jersey, JE2 4UX, owned
by the States of Jersey and will utilise their facilities.
MANAGEMENT
The management and control of the funds and affairs of the Club shall be vested in the
Committee who shall be empowered to make, repeal and amend any byelaws they
consider necessary. The Committee are guardians of the club trophies and monies.
OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE
The Committee of the Club shall consist of 3 Officers, a President, an Honorary Secretary
and an Honorary Treasurer. The Committee shall consist of not less than 4 and up to 10
members with the power to co-opt, who shall elect a Chairman from amongst their
numbers. They shall hold office from the time of election until the end of the next AGM.
Nominations shall be made in writing to the Honorary Secretary not less than 7 days prior
to the meeting. Four members shall form a quorum and any decision shall be reached by a
simple majority, with the Chairman holding a casting vote.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
An Annual General Meeting shall be held in the month of June each year to certify the
minutes of the previous meeting, receive the Annual Report, Treasurers report, elect the
Officers and Committee and determine any other business of which prior notice has been
given. An Extraordinary Meeting may be called at the discretion of the Committee or
within 3 weeks of written request of at least 15% of full members. Notice of Annual
General Meetings and/or Extrordinary Meetings giving the time, date and business will be
e mailed to all members. Only members over 16 attending the meeting shall be entitled to
vote.
MEMBERSHIP
A candidate for membership shall complete and submit an appropriate application form to
the Club. The candidate shall be deemed to be a member when accepted by the
Committee and on payment of the entry fee and subscription required. Applications will
be considered and accepted with no unlawful or unfair discrimination.
SUBSCRIPTION
Subscriptions shall fall due on 1st September each year and are for the period ending 31st
August. Members who have not paid by the 1st October will be issued with a reminder. If
the subscription remains unpaid within 31 days of the reminder, the membership will
cease. A levy may be imposed for late payment of fees.
CODE OF CONDUCT
The Committee shall have the power to expel a member when, in their opinion, which
shall be final, it would not be in the interests of the Club for that person to remain a
member if:
they commit any serious breach or a series of persistent breaches of the Rules or
Byelaws of the Club or Fort Regent
they shall behave in any way that is inconsistent with the best interests of the Club
or act in any manner contrary to the good faith which ought to be observed
between members
they shall behave in such a way likely to bring the Club into disrepute.
UNINCORPORATED CLUB
The club is a non-profit making organisation. All profit and surpluses will be used to
maintain or improve the club’s assets. No profit or surplus will be distributed other than to
a non-profit making body or to members on winding up or dissolution of the club.
DECLARATION
The Club hereby adopts and accepts this constitution as a current operating guide
regulating the action of members as in the minutes dated 22/08/2015
