St. David's School is offering an SAT Prep Course in October 2015. The course will be
taught on two Saturdays in October, October 24th – Verbal/Essay Section October 31st –
Math Section. The cost is $345 for the full 2-day course including lunch on both days, or
$225 for a 1-day single-subject course. Please see Mrs. Schleusener in Student Services for
more information.
Attention NHS members: Due to the recent rain, many events have had to be
rescheduled. Consequently, we are looking for volunteers in the concession stand EVERY
DAY until October 20! We really need your help on this. If you can volunteer, please see
Mr. Zappia in 2229 for the schedule of events.
Time to sign up for ASVAB results! If you took the ASVAB a few weeks ago please sign up
to receive test results and Interpretation. An Education Service Specialist from the US
Military will be on campus on October 28th and October 29th during SMART lunch B to
give ASVAB results and interpretations. Sigh Up is necessary. Please complete the sign-up
on the CHS website by going to student, and selecting from the Student Drop down Career
Development. There will be a sign up for ASVAB test interpretation on the left side.
Have you ever thought about going to NC State to be a part of their Engineering
program? Well, there is an opportunity coming up to shadow NC State students in the
Engineering program. It will be on Wednesday, November 11th (Veteran's Day) from 8:00
to 3:30. For more information and registration, please see the NC State PCI Shadowing
Day information on the Career Development page under the STUDENT dropdown on the
Cary High Website. You can also see Mrs. Gressett or Mr. Johnson in Student Services for
more information.
Attention all Winter Sport Athletes: Try-outs begin NOVEMBER 2. You must have a
TICKET-2-PLAY in order to try out. You can pick up your TICKET-2-PLAY in the back
gym lobby at lunch on anyone of the following dates:
OCTOBER 20, 22, 27, 28, and 29.
YOU MUST REGISTER ON THE GOIMPS.COM WEBSITE BEFORE YOU PICK UP
YOUR TICKET-2-PLAY. REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!!!
Powder Puff participants, reminder, Powder Puff game has been rescheduled for Tuesday,
October 20th. Practice will be held Monday, October 19th. Freshman & Sophomores, 6:00
pm, Juniors & Seniors, 7:00 pm.
October is Disability Awareness Month. In order to raise awareness, there will be a braille
reading contest outside Mrs. Bass' room 2103. The first person to read the braille correctly
and tell Mrs. Bass gets a prize. Don't miss this opportunity to experience a different
language.
Bonjour French Club Members: Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, October
22nd in Madame Atkinson's room (2309) at 4:30. This month's topic will be learning how
to make and eating crepes. New members, don't forget your $6.00 La Farm bakery
dues! Merci!
The second order of Senior T-shirts has arrived. They can be picked up from Mrs. Cooper
in Room 1012 today at B lunch or after school.
Announcement: If you are a junior or a senior that took or will be taking the SAT in
October, you are eligible to take the redesigned SAT for FREE on Wednesday, December
9th at Cary High. Participating students will receive official SAT scores that can be
reported to colleges and universities. Additionally, each student that participates will
receive a $50 gift card! If you would like to take this FREE SAT on Dec. 9th at Cary High,
please sign up in Student Services no later than October 31st.
Let Your Imagination Fly! The PTSA is searching for creative students through the
Reflections Art Contest. Entries will be accepted in 3-D and Visual Art, Photography,
Literature, Dance, Music, and Video Production. More information on how to enter can be
found on the PTSA website under Programs at the top of the page. What will you create?
Cary High students are invited to NC Central University's Homecoming Day with the
Eagles on Monday, October 26, 2015, 8:30am-1:30pm. Lunch and prizes will be provided.
Please sign up in Student Services.
Cosplay and Convention Club is meeting tody in room 203. Come for introductions of your
fellow club members food.
We are looking for musicians or bands to play the Bonfire Tuesday, November
10th. Please see Mrs. Loughridge in room 2128 or Mr. McCullough in room 2115 if you
are interested.

Basketball Open Gym is cancelled for today, We will resume open gym on Wednesday
right after school in the main gym.
Senior portrait and underclassmen make-up pictures will take on Tuesday, Oct
20th. Seniors, if you have not yet had your senior portrait made and have not received
your appointment card stop by room 1018 to get your appointment time. Remember you
must be photographed by Strawbridge in order to be in the yearbook. Underclassmen, if
you've not been photographed, you will receive an appointment time during 3rd period
today. Please make sure your report to have your picture made at that time. If you had
your picture made, but would like to have it retaken, stop by room 1018 for an appt time.
Announcement: All 10th graders will take the PLAN this Wednesday. Please check the
windows outside of the Main Office in the 11 building, coming in from the bus loop in the
2000 building, outside of the cafeteria, and outside of the media center for your testing
room location. Calculators will not be provided so you need to bring a calculator if you
would like to use one. On Wednesday, please report to your testing room immediately.
The Speech and Debate Team competed this past Saturday at Terry Sanford in
Fayetteville. Congratulations to Michael Quint, who placed first in impromptu speaking;
to Ellie Warren, who placed second in novice Lincoln-Douglas debate; to Noah Jabusch,
who placed third in varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate; and to Emily Stuelke, who placed
fourth in varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate. We are proud of all who participated. Anyone
interested in joining the team should see Mr. Jessee in room 1013. All are welcome.
