(February 27, 2014) – Officials at the Florida Strawberry Festival’s Neighborhood Village announced today the grand champion winners in its perishables category. The perishables category includes dehydrated foods, jellies, relishes, vegetables, cookies, cakes, candies, breads and more. All entries are made by citizens of Plant City and surrounding communities. Other categories in competition at the Neighborhood Village include quilting, jewelry, home décor and more. Located directly south of the administrative office, the 12,000 building also houses the Neighborhood Village Youth display and the horticulture show. The Festival’s art show is now housed in the Hull Armory Building, the previous location of the Neighborhood Village. This year, the Neighborhood Village will give away a set of cookware and a sewing machine. The drawings for the Brother Dream Creator/VQ2400 sewing machine and for the Kitchen Craft cookware set will be held on Sunday, March 9 in the Neighborhood Village building at 1 p.m. Tickets for both drawings are free and are available in the Neighborhood Village building throughout the 11 days of the Festival. “Our Neighborhood Village is something of which we’re very proud,” said General Manager Paul Davis. “It’s a chance for us to show off the talents of our local people, and we love to do that.” About the Florida Strawberry Festival The Florida Strawberry Festival is an 11-day community event celebrating the strawberry harvest of Eastern Hillsborough County.
