Current community and learning programme We currently deliver a wide-ranging programme of high quality community classes, master classes, an extensive Youth Circus programme, summer schools, community and teaching residencies, schools’ programmes and corporate training packages. This will include: Delivering on new partnerships with institutions of Higher and Further education, and programmes in schools Enhancing and developing our social circus programme Building even stronger learning pathways across the company Enhancing the quality and range of teaching within the company Responsible to: NoFit State Community Manager Responsible for: NoFit State teaching staff As Lead Coach you will be supported by a teaching team, development and training budgets, and our Resource and Facilities Managers. Purpose of Role To provide dynamic and creative leadership for our teaching team and deliver an inspirational programme of learning and participation. Key Responsibilities: Acting as a champion and leader for the development of community circus in Wales Advising on programme development Curriculum development Teaching programme elements as appropriate to your specific skill set Developing and managing the teaching team Ensuring all learning spaces and resources are fit for purpose, safe, and well maintained. Lead Coach Person Specification You are an experienced teacher with a strong understanding of how to structure courses to meet the needs of learners at different levels, of different ages and backgrounds, and with a variety of reasons for wishing to learn. You have studied circus to degree level or have a comparable level of professional experience. You are passionate about circus and have a strong commitment to training. You have the ability to inspire and motivate the people around you. You enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team and are not afraid of setting high standards and striving for excellence. You celebrate cultural diversity, you are sensitive to cultural differences, and you are comfortable working alongside people from all backgrounds and abilities. Experience Essential Ability to teach a broad range of aerial and ground based skills to beginner level Ability to teach technical skills in your specialist area to professional performance level Ability to assess teaching standards and identify and implement teacher training needs and programmes Ability to assess individual learner’s needs and ensure programmes are tailored to individual needs where appropriate Ability to communicate effectively through the English language Minimum of 2 years teaching experience within a respected training programme or establishment Desirable Teacher training qualification such as PTTLS Performance experience or performing arts training Welsh speaker Rigging experience Working with children and young people Working with people with disabilities Working within the arts as a transformative tool and within circus as a route to engagement Qualified First Aider Full driving licence TERMS AND CONDITIONS Starting salary £22,000 to £26,000 per annum dependent on experience. This is a full time permanent position subject to an initial three-month trial period. The position will be based in Cardiff with occasional work delivered in other parts of South Wales. The post holder will be employed on a PAYE basis. Nofit State complies with all employment legislation. A significant proportion of the teaching programme is delivered during evenings and weekends.
