Rooted in Wales, Nofit State Circus delivers: Medium and large scale professional touring productions An extensive participatory arts programme including community workshops and residencies and both medium and large scale mixed media community productions A professional development programme to support the transition from community participation to professional training and from professional training to employment through a range of educational workshops, mentoring, apprenticeship, and trainee schemes Due to the expansion of the community programme and redevelopment of a second training space, Nofit State is now able to expand it’s teaching programme, and is looking for a lead circus coach to both teach and coordinate the community and professional development programme. Nofit State Circus Facilities Training space has the following facilities: Static trapeze, rope and silks, aerial hoop, swinging trapeze, cloudswing cradle and flying trapeze (petit volente). Acrobatic tumbling mats, trampette, trampoline, German wheel, Chinese pole, tightwire-0.5 & 2m, manipulation and equilibristic equipment. Nofit State HQ, John Street, Cardiff CF10 5PE Phone: +44 (0)2920221330 www.nofitstate.com Box Office 0870 126 1771 Registered Charity Number 1102850 Registered Company Number 3180348 Responsibilities Development Developing the community programme in association with the Community Manager to reflect specific learners needs and ambitions; whether they are practicing skills for fitness or performance Developing a curriculum for both youth circus and adult classes Designing and planning classes to facilitate this in association with teaching staff Co-ordination and people management Overseeing the day to day running of the programme to ensure that learners feel welcome, respected, and in the right place Ensuring that students are attending classes appropriate to their level. Staffing of community programme Ensuring teachers are aware of their duties and responsibilities Teacher training and peer mentoring Communication Communicating curriculum with teachers delivering it. Collating feedback from teachers/ space users and ensuring it is acted upon. Attending meetings Maintaining systems to ensure both teachers and reception know who is booked to teach, keeping reception updated of any changes throughout the month. Checking availability of teachers for future blocks so that learners know who their teacher will be on rebooking Teaching Leading warm ups and warm downs Teaching a range of skills from beginners to advanced level. Teaching on trainee programme, delivering fitness and flexibility and skills training in association with other teachers. Delivering teacher training module in association with community manager and other trainers Health and Safety Carrying out visual safety checks Basic maintenance of equipment eg renewing bar tape Ensuring that rigging is appropriate, safe and well maintained TERMS AND CONDITIONS Reports to: Community Manager Hours Equivalent of 20 hours teaching or 40 hours admin/ co-ordination/ development work per week Salary £400 per week Additional income can be generated through 1:1 classes There will be an initial three-month trial period Nofit State strives to be an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
