You will now have received your first payment under the new Pay and
Allowances framework that was implemented from the 1 st June 2015.
Guidance regarding common questions has been provided below to explain some of the differences you may see in your payslip from 1 June.
If you are unsure if your new pay is correct, please check with your Manager in the first instance who will be best placed to advise you. If you still have outstanding queries please contact the Pay and
Allowances Helpdesk.
I think I have been underpaid
If you believe you have been underpaid, please contact the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk to notify them of the underpayment. Supplementary pay runs to correct any underpayments are being scheduled, the Pay & Allowances team will discuss this with you.
Why has my pay gone down?
If you believe your pay should not have gone down, please notify the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk who will check instructions received from your manager. You will also need to speak to your manager so that they can confirm any corrections with the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk. Any underpayment will be paid in the next scheduled supplementary run in June. Some examples of why your pay may have gone down are as follows:
Additional SCPs (+1 and +2) have been removed if they took you above the top SCP for your grade. This may have been replaced with an allowance which would have been confirmed via your manager if applicable.
Allowances under the old framework have been removed. New allowances have only been paid if confirmed by your manager.
If your weekly hours or paid weeks per year have reduced, your pay would have been adjusted to reflect this.
My increase in hours has not been awarded?
If your hours have been increased but you believe your pay is incorrect, please contact the Pay and
Allowances team who will investigate this for you. Please note that changes that were notified during the change freeze are being completed in July and any money owed will be back dated and paid in July.
Why is my pay protection missing?
If you should be receiving an existing pay protection and you believe it has not been paid, please contact the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk who will investigate this for you.
My increment has not been awarded?
There are no increments in June; this would have been actioned in April if you were entitled.
I think I have been overpaid
If you believe you have been overpaid, please contact the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk to notify them of the overpayment. Any overpayment will be deducted from your July salary. Phone and
Broadband Allowance: This allowance ceased from the 1 st June 2015 but we are aware that some staff have received payment for this allowance in error. If this affects you, the overpayment will be deducted from your July salary.
Why has my pay gone up?
Some examples of why your pay may have gone up are as follows:
Living wage has been applied to employees on SCP 6-10 (excluding Apprentices).
School grades have now been aligned with the Council grades and now include an additional £250+ for the lower points.
Grades have been reduced to a maximum of 8 SCPs per grade, with SCPs at the bottom of
the grades being removed. If your SCP was removed you will have moved up to a higher SCP.
You may now be entitled to a new allowance under the new framework that you weren’t entitled to previously. New allowances will be visible on your payslip.
Contractual Car User, First Aid and Fire Marshall allowances are no longer paid pro rata for part time employees so you will receive the full amount payable under the new framework.
If you have received an allowance in error, or have not received an allowance you believe you are entitled to, please notify the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk. You will also need to speak with your manager who will need to confirm the correction with the Pay and Allowances team before your pay and contract of employment can be corrected.
Why is my overtime missing?
If you completed overtime in June, this will be paid in July. If you are missing overtime payments for overtime prior to June, please contact the HR Pay Team on Option 5 and they will investigate this for you.
Why is my Fire Marshal or First Aid payment missing?
If it is a requirement of your role (under Job Evaluation) to be a First Aider or a Fire Marshal, you will no longer receive an additional payment for this. If you believe you should receive the allowance because it is not part of your Job Description, please notify the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk who will check instructions received from your manager. You will also need to speak to your manager so that they can confirm any corrections with the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk. Any underpayment will be paid in the next scheduled supplementary run.
Why is my Contractual Car User payment missing?
The criteria to meet eligibility for the Contractual Car User allowance has changed. If you believe you should receive the allowance, please notify the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk who will check instructions received from your manager. You will also need to speak to your manager so that they can confirm any corrections with the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk. Any underpayment will be paid in the next scheduled supplementary run.
What is the loan Repayment on my payslip?
This was the advance that was awarded to employees moving from weekly and fortnightly to monthly pay. The loan was paid on the 4 th and 11 th June and these are the repayments for that.
What do these codes mean on my payslip?
Cont User CS (New Contractual Car user allowance) Fire, First Aid, Standby, Call Out, Emergency,
Soulbury Adjustment, Irregular Payment – These are the new titles for the new allowances that have been awarded under the new framework and replace the allowances payable under the old framework.
What is my annual pay?
To get an approximate annual salary, use your monthly basic pay line and any irregular payments and multiply by 12. This will give you a gross annual amount which does not take into account tax, pension or NI deductions.
I haven’t received my payslip?
Original monthly paid employees will continue to get payslips on Myview. Weekly and fortnightly employees who have moved to monthly will receive a payslip at their work address. If you have not received a payslip, contact the Pay and Allowances Helpdesk and we will investigate/advise accordingly.
The overtime and enhancement lines in MyView have changed. If you are claiming anything before
1 st June, please ensure that you select the correct line.
If the enhancements / call out / overtime states:
‘To 31 May’ only use this line for claims up to 31 May 2015
All other lines can be used for claims prior to and after 1 st June
