Page 1 of 2 Research Scientists for Cell Engineering Group Oxford, Oxfordshire Salary competitive Two positions: 1 Permanent position & 1 Maternity Cover Profile of Role Oxford BioMedica’s Cell Engineering Group is being expanded to support an increasing company portfolio of cell and gene therapies. The team is involved in the development, optimisation and characterisation of lentiviral vectors. In addition, the team is responsible for the development of stable lentiviral vector packaging and producer cell lines. Highly motivated and independent individuals are sought to work within this team. The successful candidates will be involved in: ─ the planning and performing of non-clinical grade large scale viral vector preparations ─ the development and optimisation of lentiviral vector production ─ the characterisation of lentiviral vector for advancement to preclinical studies ─ the development of stable lentiviral vector producer cell lines and the screening of resulting producer clones ─ Any other activities within the Research Group Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ BSc or PhD in a relevant Bioscience that is relevant to the work carried out in the Research Group at Oxford BioMedica Knowledge in Virology would be an advantage Lab technical experience with particular emphasis on Tissue Culture, qPCR and Molecular Biology Good level of communication and presentation skills Ability to work well in a team Key Tasks ─ ─ ─ Development and optimisation of new lentiviral vector products Cell line engineering for the development of new cell lines for the production of lentiviral vector products Process development to optimise and improve current upstream manufacturing capabilities Page 2 of 2 Competencies ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ A strong interest in gene therapy with emphasis on lentiviral vectors, and/or experience of working with lentiviral vectors would be an advantage Good practical competence and technical understanding of lentiviral vector production Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting Excellent time management skills, with the ability to execute projects to aggressive timelines and adapt to rapid changes in project priorities Good written and verbal communication skills Be enthusiastic and motivated for working on and solving very challenging projects Effective communication skills to gain company support The successful candidate will report to the Team Leader for the Cell Engineering Group within the Research Group.
