Spooky Day Events
Our School Parliament have decided to organise a day of Spooky fun on Wednesday 21st October – this is the last day
before the Half Term holiday. All pupils may come to school (this is entirely optional) dressed in their Halloween
costumes. All classes will be taking part in lots of fun arts and craft activities, spooky dance sessions, watch a short
spooky DVD (rated U).
The School Parliament would also like to hold a pumpkin carving competition, so any pupils who would like to take part
need to bring their carved pumpkin to the school hall when school starts and fill in a name label. Prizes will be awarded
for the best dressed and best pumpkin! The School Parliament really hopes all pupils and staff enjoy this fun day.
Change of School Lunch Menu on Spooky Day
Please note there is a change of menu on our last day before Half Term to a “Halloween lunch” Please see the attached
menu. Please don’t forget Jill the Cook needs the lunch menus back ASAP in order to organise the ordering of food.
Thank you.
Halloween Disco
Our popular annual Halloween Disco in the lower halls is on Wednesday 21st October 6.30-8pm – Price are:- Adults £2,
Children £1, Preschool 50p and a family ticket is £5. Tickets are available from the office now! There will be
refreshments and hotdogs for sale too.
Norwich Food Bank
On Friday 16th October (this Friday) we would ask that children come to school dressed in non-school uniform
and instead of donating money bring in a tin of food, packet of dried food etc instead – so we can support
Norwich Food Bank again.
Bags to School
We raised £40. Thank you to everyone who donated old clothes etc.
Friends of Mag Gates
We had a disappointing turnout at the meeting on the 6 th October with only 3 parents turning up! I cannot
stress enough that unless we have two or three more people step forward to take the lead on planning
events (with my support) it is highly likely that our no-charge policy will cease after Christmas.
This will be discussed at the Governor Finance Committee in December. The next meeting has been set
for 9am on Monday 9th November.
Newsletters
The office team have had a number of parents state that they are not receiving their newsletters. This was
evident from the amount of parents who missed out on getting the parent teacher consultation
appointment sheet which was attached to one of the recent newsletters. Newsletters always go
home on a Monday – please remind your child(ren) to take them home, rather than leave
them in their tray! Your child will have been given a newsletter. So if your child comes out of class with
no newsletter with them on Mondays please send them back into school and ask them to get it.
The newsletter is always published on our school website by Monday lunchtime –
www.magdalengates.norfolk.sch.uk. It is incredibly important that you receive the Newsletter (and read it)
as this is our way of getting important information to you.
If you would like an electronic copy of the newsletter – please let the ladies in the office know.
Parent View
Yeah we have 26 responses – which is fantastic!!!!! Can we get over 30 please? Please take five minutes
to log onto https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk and give your views on our school.
Open Morning
We would love to invite parents, prospective parents, grandparents to see our school in action on Thursday 5th
November from 9-12pm. Please arrive at school for 9am, sign in at the school office and get a visitor guide and enjoy
visiting all of our wonderful classes!
