recommendation letters, etc.) to the Dean of the college from which your nominee graduated.

The Alumni Association Awards Committee will select the final recipients.

Nomination Guidelines 2014

A graduate of your college; or, in special circumstances, an alum who
completed a significant amount of coursework at CSULB.
Recognized and accomplished in his/her field. Made a significant impact
regionally, statewide, and/or nationally.
A proven record of leadership and service to his/her community and
society at-large.
Demonstrated interest, pride and support of CSULB: has served as a
volunteer, contributes as a donor, attends events, and/or stays connected
with faculty or staff.
Selection Process
Nominations are solicited from faculty, staff, alumni and students who are asked
to forward their distinguished alumni candidates to the dean’s office of the
respective college where the alumnus’ major resides today. These should
include the application and other supporting materials (i.e.: press clippings,
recommendation letters, etc.) so the committee can evaluate each nominee.
Incomplete applications may be returned.
The dean is asked to forward a minimum of two and a maximum of four
nominations to the Alumni Relations Office. The Alumni Association Awards
Committee will select the final recipients. The deans will be notified of its
selections.
The Alumni Association will contact the recipients of this distinction. The award is
predicated upon that the recipient can accept the award in person by attending
the Alumni Awards Banquet, agree to submit materials that will be used for the
recognition, and are strongly encouraged to attend the respective college’s
commencement ceremony.

Deadline
Please check with the respective dean’s office for its internal deadlines, which
are probably prior to Nov. 1.
Deans must submit their two to four nomination packets (application and other
supporting materials) by Friday, November 1, 2013 to:

Award recipients will be honored at the Alumni Awards Banquet gala on
Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. The Alumni
Association provides complimentary tickets to the recipient and one guest.
They will be featured in “The Beach Connection,” the Alumni Association’s
members magazine.
They will be featured on the Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni
website.
The names of the Distinguished Alumni may be listed in the
commencement program booklet.
Individual certificates will be awarded to the Distinguished Alumnus/a at
the college’s commencement ceremony.
