Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 5 Design Technology Challenge Morning – 10th February 2016
As part of our topic, Stargazers, we will be launching rockets to the moon and investigating the
moon’s surface. In the last week of term, we will be investigating how to get back from the moon to
Earth. We will be trying to bring our ‘eggstronauts’ back to earth in the safest way possible!
We would like to invite parents and carers of children in Year 5 to share in their children’s learning,
by joining us for a design technology challenge morning from 9.00am to 12.00pm on Wednesday
10th February 2016.
In groups, we will be trying to design and build the safest way to bring our ‘eggstronauts’ back to
Earth, with as little damage as possible!
If you have any spare egg boxes, bubble wrap, cardboard boxes, cotton wool, carrier
bags, aluminium foil, cardboard tubes or any other items that may be used for junk
modelling, that you would be happy to donate, we would be very grateful. Please
send them into school with your child.
If you are up for the challenge and would like to join us, please complete the slip below and return
to the class teacher by Monday 8th February 2016. We look forward to seeing you there.
