Installation of new lighting solutions by designer Jacob de Baan at IMM 2015.
Jacob de Baan:“Each moment of our day gives us a different kind of light. It is something deeply connected
with the changing natural light of the sun and the sky and ancestral actions like sitting next to the fire. We
wake up after the sunrise, we start cooking and working with a cool light that comes from above. We enjoy
dinner with friends and relatives seated on a table with a warmer and lower positioned light. Afterwards we
need to relax and we sit on the couch in the living room with a warm light put on the floor like a fireplace.”
I proposes good lighting solutions for each moment of our day with my range of new designs: SAFIR, VLAMP
GOLD, OLAMP BIRCH and ULAMP BIRCH. Please find a description below:
SAFIR (sapphire) is made of translucent sheets made by biodegradable polymer, jute, or birch that can be
used freestanding as well as on the ceiling and come in a variety of dimensions and colours. The SAFIR
lighting collection pays particular attention to ecological and sustainable solutions: a standard light
bulb socket containing an energy-efficient lamp holds its structure together. No glue or screws are used.
It is efficiently packed in a flat box to avoid environmental damage and high transportation costs.
VLAMP GOLD provides the warm, reddish light of real candlelight. The shimmering glow of the tea light
flame is projected onto the ceiling or wall by a highly reflective ceramic lampshade. VLAMP GOLD is
awarded by the German Design Council:

OLAMP BIRCH is a spectacular pendant light, consisting of a grid of birch elements and the latest tube
LED light sources. The intensity of the light generated is exceptionally high. This design is very suitable
as an eye catcher in a shop or office. The fixture is delivered fully assembled, including light source.
ULAMP BIRCH is a vertical suspended lampshade with an LED or energy-efficient light bulb that consists of a
grid of birch elements.
The intensity of the light generated is soft and gentle. This design is very suitable as in
bars and restaurants and in the hom. The fixture is delivered fully assembled, excluding light source.
About Jacob de Baan
Jacob de Baan is a Dutch creative and communication professional with more than 25 years of
experience in design. Jacob de Baan is passionate about light and lighting. Over the years he designed
many lighting fixtures, often for clients, but also independently. He works for clients like NEW
DUIVENDRECHT, DARK and PHILIPS. His work has been exhibited around the world and has been
purchased by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Jacob de Baan is coordinator at Royal Academy of Arts
The Hague at Industrial Design Department. Studio Jacob de Baan is located in Amsterdam as well as in
Istanbul.
