Pharmacy 2U: are you waiting for a prescription to be delivered?
Local doctors are asking patients waiting for prescriptions to be dispensed by the internetbased company, Pharmacy2U, to make alternative arrangements to collect their medicines.
As a result of technical problems, the company is experiencing difficulties in dispensing
medicines to some of its patients.
Most patients waiting for medicines to be dispensed will have been contacted directly by
the company to ensure that they make other arrangements to collect the medicines
prescribed by their family doctor.
But anyone who is waiting for a prescription from Pharmacy2U and has not been contacted
should visit any local pharmacy to obtain their medicines. The pharmacist will be able to
access the prescription electronically from the NHS national spine.
Speaking on behalf of the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven and Bradford Clinical
Commissioning Groups, Dr Phil Pue said: “It’s a very busy time of year and people may not
have been available to pick up their emails or telephone calls. But it’s very important that
they have enough medication to see them through Christmas and the New Year.
“Making sure people have enough medicines during the festive period until GP surgeries reopen can not only make a difference to their health but it could also ensure doctors are not
called out unnecessarily or that people are not heading to A&E when they don’t need to.”
