Bellefonte Country Club extends a warm welcome to our new Director of Tennis, Umang
Chadda. Umang comes to BCC with an impressive background as a professional tennis player
and world-class coach. Certified by the USPTA and PTR, Umang holds a distinctive education,
combining sports and business. Umang's tennis background began with competing
successfully in India’s crowded tennis scene and being a top-ranked player in all age
categories besides a national champion in the Under-16, Under-18, and Men's
Doubles category. His playing skills led him to be selected as a junior Indian Davis Cup player
to represent India against Japan and get sponsored by Nike and Prince. In addition, he has
been a hitting partner for many top ATP and WTA touring professionals including Pete
Sampras, Jennifer Capriati, Andrew Kratzman and Anastasia Myskina.
His international coaching career included serving under legendary coach Ms. Joan Ramey at
the Ramey Tennis School, KY as a head professional. As a tennis promoter, he worked with
former US Davis Cup team player David Wheaton and French Open doubles champion
Luke Jensen in Springfield, MO. In addition, he spent two summers working at the ManitouWabing Center in Ontario, Canada imparting tennis coaching to children and adults. He also
worked as a tennis manager for two years while in India and coached several top nationally and
internationally ranked junior players.
Umang’s professional career was taken to a next level with five years of playing satellites and
challengers on the professional world tour before being awarded a full college tennis
scholarship in the United States. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information
Science as well as several awards, including the MIAA Player of the Week, MIAA Conference
Singles and Doubles Champion and became a top 10-ranked player in the U.S. With an interest
in working in the sports-related industry, he obtained a graduate degree in Sport Management
from Western Illinois University and coached its NCAA D-I men’s and women’s college
tennis teams.
Umang is passionate about teaching tennis to all levels, children and adults alike. He has been
Director of Tennis Operations at the WTS International, and introduced events and programs
like Tennis Across America, USTA Tournaments, Cardio Tennis, 10 and Under Tennis, and
Junior Academy Program during his directorship. Also, during that period, he was selected to be
interviewed on local television to talk about tennis growth opportunities in the community.
He coached, participated in training camps, and traveled with many of the best American
juniors to major events in the United States.
He recently came up with three excellent tennis drills that received the honor of being published
in the USPTA magazine, ADDvantage; and PTR magazine, TennisPro.
Umang hopes to fuel his dedication to tennis and make Bellefonte Country Club the most
competitive and fun tennis experience in the area. Furthermore, he would like to introduce his
passion for tennis to many more youth and adults and continue building the Club into a
recognized and well-established tennis facility, catering to all levels of tennis abilities.
The Fall tennis schedules for the Adult and Junior programs begins September 1st , to reserve
for a clinic or arrange a private lesson call Umang at 606/831-1998 or
