DIT Foundation and Dublin School of Architecture Sir Richard Morrison Scholarship at DIT 2015-16 DIT Foundation and the Dublin School of Architecture at DIT are delighted to announce the launch of the 2014/2015 Sir Richard Morrison Scholarships. The Sir Richard Morrison Scholarship will support a student in each of the five years in the Bachelor of Architecture honours degree programme and each of the 4 years of the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology honours degree programme at DIT. The scholarships will be awarded to students of proven engagement and academic excellence within the current academic year. Each scholarship is worth €3,000. DIT Sir Richard Morrison Scholarship 2015 Page 1 of 6 Sir Richard Morrison Scholarship at DIT Scholarship Description The Sir Richard Morrison Scholarship Scheme was established by the late Lieutenant Colonel Charles Colquhoun Morrison who bequeath a sum of money ‘to provide scholarships for students of Architecture’ in memory of his relation, Sir Richard Morrison. The scheme was originally operated by the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee but transferred to DIT Foundation in recent years. The Sir Richard Morrison Scholarship will support a student in each of the five years of study in the Bachelor of Architecture honours degree programme at DIT and each of the 4 years of the BSc Architectural Technology honours degree programme. A scholarship of €3,000 will be awarded to each of the 9 successful candidates. This is a wonderful and life changing opportunity for DIT students. Scholarship Overview & Eligibility The criteria to be used for determining the award are as follows: Academic excellence (50%) Academic performance through continual assessment and final assessment within the current academic year will be considered. Engagement and motivation (50%) The student will demonstrate, through a personal statement of no more than 1000 words, their engagement in architectural education and their motivation to study architecture or architectural technology. This may include extracurricular experience, voluntary work, research and any other relevant activities. Students are asked to submit a portfolio to support their application. The portfolio MUST be submitted in digital pdf form, in one document, and should not exceed a total of twenty pages (max file size 5 mb). Have demonstrated academic excellence within the current academic year. Students will then be contacted by DIT Foundation and receive their scholarship be electronic bank transfer no later than July 1st 2015. The Sir Richard Morrison Scholars will be required to submit an impact report to DIT Foundation. Students may also be required to take part in publicity where necessary. Selection Panel DIT Foundation will accept all applications and shortlist all candidates that satisfy the selection criteria. A selection panel will meet w/c 18th May 2015 to select the successful 9 candidates. The selection panel will consist of the following: Head of School, the Dublin School of Architecture Head of Learning Development, College of Engineering and Built Environment Two academic representatives from the Dublin School of Architecture to be nominated by the Head of School One external representative from Architectural industry The decision of the selection panel is final.
