Sample Lesson Plan for Science
Kindergarten through Fourth Grade
Goal: The students will develop life science skills in the area of interdependence.
CPI: Describe the ways in which organisms interact with each other and their habitats in order to meet basic needs. 5.3.2.C.1
ACSSSD Objective: Match plants and animals to their habitat. 5.3.2.C.1.c
Activity: “Animals: Creature Features” http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/animals/creaturefeature/. The teacher will display
information about several animals that live in each of the seven habitats on the National Geographic website using the Smartboard.
After the students read and discuss several animals, break students into small groups to create a poster depicting ways that the animals
interact with each other in their habitat to meet their basic needs.
