That governments may be inspired by the words of the prophets to promote justice, mercy, and peace, we pray to the Lord... That the Church may bring about effective repentance from the sin of abortion, and the gift healing to those wounded by it, we pray to the Lord… That the sick and the lonely may enjoy the consolation of the presence and love of the Christian community, we pray to the Lord... That those who have died may be filled with the joy of seeing Jesus face to face, we pray to the Lord... Christmas December 25, 2015 Celebrant: In Christmas joy and hope, let us present all our needs to God with confidence. Deacon/Lector: For the Holy Church of God, that as she celebrates the birth of Christ, she may grow in holiness, we pray to the Lord… For peace, that all nations may resolve their conflicts by giving themselves over the Christ, the Prince of Peace, we pray to the Lord… For those who are alone or abandoned, for the oppressed and the hungry, the homeless, and the unborn, we pray to the Lord… For all the sick of our families and our parish, that they may join their sufferings to the sufferings of Christ, we pray to the Lord… For all those who have died, that by the power of Christ's birth on earth, they may be born in heaven, we pray to the Lord… Celebrant: Father, the birth of your Son renews our hope. Feast of the Holy Family December 27, 2015 Celebrant: God humbled himself to be born of a human family, and sanctified family life forever. For the needs of our families and our world, we now pray. That governments respect the institution of marriage, made by God as the union between one man and one woman, we pray to the Lord... That more families promote the vocation to marriage, religious life and to the priesthood, we pray to the Lord ... That families burdened by divorce, abuse, or alienation may seek and find the help of the Holy Family, we pray to the Lord... That our family members who have died may be welcomed into eternal life, we pray to the Lord... Celebrant: Father, we thank you for the gift of life and family. Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God January 1, 2016 Celebrant: As we begin a New Year, let us bring our prayers and needs to our heavenly Father with confidence. Deacon/Lector: That the Church may effectively proclaim to the world the divinity of Christ and the special role of our blessed Mother, we pray to the Lord… That Church leaders may be strengthened by God’s grace as they face the challenges of the New Year, we pray to the Lord… That the leaders of nations will seek equality and peace for all, we pray to the Lord… That the prayers of the Mother of God may strengthen all mothers to follow her example of welcoming new life despite fear, doubt, and uncertainty, we pray to the Lord... Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, January 24, 2016 Celebrant: The Lord Jesus came to proclaim liberty to the captives and salvation to all. This gives us confidence to entrust to him all our needs. Deacon/Lector: For Church leaders as they continue to proclaim the message Jesus preached, we pray to the Lord... That all governments may acknowledge that every human law must correspond to the laws of God, we pray to the Lord... That as Christ proclaims liberty to the poor and the captive, we may work to eliminate war, starvation, capital punishment, and abortion, we pray to the Lord… That more members may serve the one body through the priesthood and religious life, we pray to the Lord... That the sick may be comforted and the deceased may share in eternal life, we pray to the Lord... Celebrant: Father, We welcome the Gospel of Your Son. Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time, January 31, 2016 Celebrant: God knew us, and our needs, before we were born. We therefore pray with great confidence. Deacon/Lector: That those appointed in the Church to proclaim God's Word may find open hearts and minds, we pray to the Lord... That government leaders may have the gifts of faith, hope, and love, to acknowledge God, we pray to the Lord... That our youth may learn the ways of God and become faithful disciples of Christ, we pray to the Lord... That the sick may grow in faith and in health, we pray to the Lord... That those who have died may be welcomed into the joys of eternal life, we pray to the Lord... That all who have died may be purified of sin and rejoice in eternal life, we pray to the Lord... Celebrant: Father, despite our unworthiness, you call us to follow you.
